>> Pours with low foam, hazy orange color. Intense candied ginger nose, stinky hop background, trash/overripe esters. Taste is spicy, dry, dusty, medium ginger, somewhat sticky, not quite robust enough ginger wise and I wish they had used a less sticky base beer. Grunion with Ginger?

[2/20/15] Draught at Ballast Point Old Grove in San Diego. As Big Eye IPA Ginger. Clear golden. Big ginger aroma with a bit of hops in the back. Spicy flavor with lots of ginger, some citric hops and some bitterness. Medium-bodied. Really not my thing.

On tap at Hops and Pie poured a hazy golden amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of straw, ginger, citrus and light pine. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, ginger, pine and light citrus with a smooth dry bitter lingering ginger finish.

Draft pour at Ballast point original. Light amber pour, solid IPA base, and then the ginger really comes through.

On draft at the Miramar facility (from my tasting notes). Nice ginger nose and taste, works really well together with the citrus forward hops.

17 Jan 2015, tap at Ballast Point. gold/orange, clear, some steady bubbles. nose is gorgeous ginger! occasionally you can find the aroma of the big eye hops but it’s pretty much just ginger, and it’s lovely! thin body and moderately fizzy. tastes like fresh cut ginger. it’s a tad watery. hops come out more in the flavor. this is great!

Keg at OB Noodle House, Cable St OB, 13/11/14 as ’ginger’.
Rich amber with reddish hues topped with a moderate off white to light beige covering.
Nose is candied fruit peels, big root ginger, brown sugar, perfumed notes.
Taste comprises floral hop, ginger, spice, caramel, bitter orange, red grapefruit.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with prominent ginger notes tempered with hop bitterness.
Not bad for a gingerfied beer.

"More ginger than hops in the aroma. Fresh smelling fo sho. Prickly on the palate with the hops battling for attention at the back end. Nicely done, though if you’re not a fan of ginger (why are you drinking this then?) it would be a little much. Hoppy yet palate cleansing at the same time. Nice."

Draught at Ballast Point Old Grove, San Diego. Clear golden beer with a rich white head. Ginger aroma, caramel, fruity, biscuits, grapes, some mango. Ginger and hop flavor, caramel, quite spicy, grapefruit, some floral notes. Way behind the original Big Eye, but still decent.
