In the glass it has a hazy orange color with a nice head. Aroma of ginger, hops and a little citrus come through. Taste has some mild bitterness up front followed with some citrus. There is also some ginger and mild spice finish it off. Medium finish.

July 24, 2015. On tap at Lord Hobo.
Pale amber with a small white head. Aroma is candied ginger, lemon, orange, pine needles and grain. Taste is medium sweet with toffee and sugary ginger notes, slightly dry bitter finish with pine needles, citrus and sharp raw ginger notes. Medium bodied, average carbonation.
A bit heavy on the ginger...

Well crafted beer. Nice looking body with an attractive head. Loads of caramel and piney hops. Ginger is a nice touch, however, it is faint and I wish it was stronger. I would also like to compare this with regular big eye to see the difference. My guess is that it wouldn’t be all that distinguishable. Also double ginger big eye sounds interesting, but they would really have to dial up the ginger to make that one unique. As this warms up the ginger becomes much more noticeable. Fairly impressed. I like it.

On tap @ Ei8ht Ball / Bellevue KY --- Hazy medium amber color, white head, bands of lace. Taste is hard malt that adds mild fizz, and what I assume is bitter ginger, before moving to a mildly hopped finish. The ginger tastes light tree bark. This is a harsh brew that leaves me feeling assaulted.

Golden pour with nice sized white head. Citrus nose with ginger on the end. Flavor is much the same with good bit of citrus mixed with minced ginger. Nice spice and a touch of heat from the ginger that blends well with the malt.

Beautiful. Clear, radiant sunset orange, frothy white head. Ginger leads but doesn’t overpower. Sweet caramel. Moderate bitterness. Spicy and herbal. Fairly dry. Would like to have this with some sushi.

A light and crisp citrus and ginger aroma. Hoppy and tangy taste. A little dry, not much citrus in taste, hidden behind the ginger. Makes me crave suishi.

PorterPounder (7054) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - APR 9, 2016
Tallahassee, Fl - Beer Stop - 22 oz bomber. Sparkling medium golden pour, silky, snow white head with decent lacing. Aroma has a pleasant ginger twang to it with a hint of spearmint. Solid citrus backbone to the frontal friendly assault of ginger. which is not overbearing or distracting but is the dominant flavor. Hints of pineapples as well, which seems to kind of being a ’house’ flavor for Ballast, in a good way. Pleasantly thick mouthfeel. Solid as usually the case from Ballast Point.

Twist on the IPA. Citrusy, floral with a hint of herbal ginger. Aroma and flavor are fantastic. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
