This was poured into a becher pint glass. The appearance was a mild hazy burnt amber color with a one finger white to off white rocky foamy head that took its time to dissipate. Nice show! Semi-thick foamy lacing appeared all around the glass. The smell had the normal qualities of Big eye (bitter citrus to piney to that light underscore of caramel malt) and then spiced up with ginger. Smells authentic. The taste was spicy - fully through the ginger and on into the hops, taking them to the same spicy level. Bitterness shows up just a bit. Dry semi-spicy aftertaste with a quick finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a decent sessionable feel to it as the ginger doesn’t hit too hard and nor does it become a palate wrecker too much. Overall, Ballast Point did everything they wanted to with this one. That’s definitely real "ginger" they added. I like it for the most part, but it does come across pretty dry.

In the glass it has a hazy orange color with a nice head. Aroma of ginger, hops and a little citrus come through. Taste has some mild bitterness up front followed with some citrus. There is also some ginger and mild spice finish it off. Medium finish.

July 24, 2015. On tap at Lord Hobo.
Pale amber with a small white head. Aroma is candied ginger, lemon, orange, pine needles and grain. Taste is medium sweet with toffee and sugary ginger notes, slightly dry bitter finish with pine needles, citrus and sharp raw ginger notes. Medium bodied, average carbonation.
A bit heavy on the ginger...

Well crafted beer. Nice looking body with an attractive head. Loads of caramel and piney hops. Ginger is a nice touch, however, it is faint and I wish it was stronger. I would also like to compare this with regular big eye to see the difference. My guess is that it wouldn’t be all that distinguishable. Also double ginger big eye sounds interesting, but they would really have to dial up the ginger to make that one unique. As this warms up the ginger becomes much more noticeable. Fairly impressed. I like it.

On tap @ Ei8ht Ball / Bellevue KY --- Hazy medium amber color, white head, bands of lace. Taste is hard malt that adds mild fizz, and what I assume is bitter ginger, before moving to a mildly hopped finish. The ginger tastes light tree bark. This is a harsh brew that leaves me feeling assaulted.

Golden pour with nice sized white head. Citrus nose with ginger on the end. Flavor is much the same with good bit of citrus mixed with minced ginger. Nice spice and a touch of heat from the ginger that blends well with the malt.
