Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

12 fl.oz. can. Pours a hazy golden with a medium, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Fruity, hoppy aroma of grapefruit and peach. Sweet flavour of grapefruit, peach, mango, grass and pine with a slightly dry, bitter finish. Light body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Nicely done. Lots of flavour for such a low alcohol beer.

Poured from a can dated 07/22/2015. Aroma is fairly hoppy with some moderately strong tropical fruit notes. Medium light citrus with some light cracker and caramel malt notes. Pours a fairly clear, golden copper color with a fairly large, thick, slightly off-white head that lingers for a really long time. High lacing and faint legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with some medium light cracker and light caramel malt notes. Medium bitterness with moderate hop notes. Some grapefruit and lighter resin and tropical fruit notes. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied but slightly watery with some medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low, pretty much nonexistent alcohol warmth. Overall, a very sessionable and crushable hoppy beer. I normally don’t like the maltier IPAs, but I think these session ones need it to hide the really low ABV. Hop character could be a bit more pronounced, but still a really good beer.

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2015 Easily one of the best session IPA’s/APA’s that I’ve had. Clear, amber. Not sweet but not parched, tasty esters. Got to chatting with Joe Ostaszewski, former FSU footballer about his Saving Justin child obesity crusade, and it seemed rude to take replete notes. Still, very nice. On tap, Brass Tap, Tallahassee Midtown.

Nice fresh 12oz can. Pours light golden with small white head. Nice fresh hop and citrus notes is the aroma. Flavor is citrusy hops, grapefruit, zest, light malts. Finishes with nice amount of bitterness. On par, if not better than FW Easy Jack. Good stuff.

nice, citrusy hop aroma; really citrusy hop flavor; very light malt base - really like liquid hops - no malt to get in the way; all the hoppiness of an IPA at only 3.8% abv so you can have a bunch

Draft at beer run. Pours golden with a white head. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. Big grapefruit on the nose and tongue. Finished clean. Just a lovely and flavorful beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce can from Beer Run. Clear golden, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of lemon, pith, grapefruit zest, pale malts. The taste is herbal, piney, lemony hops, pale malt. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, strong lingering bitterness.

Bottle at Chris and Ruth’s place in London. Clear golden beer with a nice offwhite head. Hoppy citrus aroma, grassy, hay, pine apples, mango notes. Hoppy citrus flavor, grapefruit, pine, peach, some biscuits. Quite nice SIPA, I guess the can has helped it survive all the way to Europe.
