COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

Really enjoyed this low-alcohol, full-flavored hop bomb. Not long ago, you really couldn’t find "small beer" that was packing this much flavor, but Ballast really came through on this one! Taste like an assertive IPA. Nice job. Multi 12oz can experience.

Clear in appearance. Dark copper in color. Thick, frothy head. Good lacing. Piney and citrusy notes. Also some what i can only think of as clover in the aroma. Very watery texture. Low carbonation. Not much of a hoppy taste at all. I want the hoppy if i am getting a IPA. Starts out dry and finishes watery. I guess that is why they call it a session IPA. No kick to it at all.

Bottle. Good for what it is: a light, watery IPA with some citrus hints. Have one after you mow the lawn.

Clear orange color with white head. Aroma is really nice and hoppy fruity and herbal notes. Taste starts also hoppy with fruits, herbs and some resinous notes too. Finishes a bit abrupt, leaving only a slight lingering bitterness. Body is light and refreshing. For 3.8% ABV, this beer is pretty tasty.

Can from a 6 pack bought a corner Super America gas station at 38th and Park in South Minneapolis next to the usual MGD and Mickeys - woohoo for quality microbrew bought at MN gas stations! This is very new here. Pours beautiful copper with light foam leaving a fair trail of lacing. Nose is big citrus hops, a little hop resin backed by caramel malt. Flavor is very rich considering the abv - has very mildly sweet and bready caramel malt , great soft texture in the malts - very well thought out malt bill here - followed by a cascade of citrus hop flavors in the finish and lingering resiny bitterness. Wow - as long as my corner SA keeps carrying this it’s like my local bitter at the corner pub.

355ml bottle pours a copper color with a finger of white head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is citrus and pine with some caramel notes. Taste is a citrus and pine hop bitterness with a herbal note and a caramel malty sweetness. Light grainy mouth feel. Light bodied with good carbonation. Overall, this is a nicely crafted ale that is balanced and tasty. recommended.
