COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Pale amber color with a thin white head and spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus and hops. Light-bodied and effervescent with flavors of grassy hops, citrus and malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

Golden pour, white head. Light hops floral aroma. Bit of grain and malts. Pretty good for a 3.8.

My kind of APA-great hoppy flavor. Well balanced, great session brew, does have a lot of personality for a beer that is only 3.8%. Interesting, some complexity as well.

Draft at Devil’s Den in Philadelphia, PA. Pours a dark amber color with rose edges and a two finger, frothy light beige head that has excellent retention, only slowly fading into a lasting cap.  Steaks and spots of soapy lace left behind. Resinous earthy hop aroma with subtle hints of citrus countering the dry, grassy pine character.  Underneath there’s a nice malt presence with some caramel, toffee and nut. On the fuller end of medium bodied with a blast of bitter dry hops up front that linger over the sweeter notes into a slightly dry finish.  Lots of earthy pine, grass and soil countered by orange peel, mango and grapefruit.  Well balanced by decent makt backbone with hints of caramel, toffee and light fruit notes.  Overall this is a solid, well balance, easy drinking session ale that has a very strong hop profile.

Hazy golden with a big white head, aroma is light mild malt with some light citrus notes... (please stop with this notion that beers under 5% can somehow be catagoried as IPAs)... this is and is properly classified here as a pale ale... decent lacing, good retention... Flavor follows suit fairly malty with nice citrus notes, light bodied...

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2012 Had this on tap at the double wide. Clody light brown with a clean fresh somewhat sterile aroma. Quite strong in personality for a beer that is less than 4%. Flavorful hops for a light beer but it goes down rather easy. A little watery on the palate. Good amount of co2. Medium bitter linger for a finish.

Draft. Gold with a white head. Light flowery and citric hops on a grainy and lightly sweet malty base. Could use a few more aromatic hops, but damn this is awesome for how low in alcohol it is. I love that brewers are starting to make beers like this more regularly.

Orange with a white head. Citrus, sweet malt, floral notes. Smooth and easy going. Solid brew but not sure if I'd go back. Something about it puts me off.

On tap at Good Dog, pours amber with nice white head and medium lacing. Aromas and taste of grass, citrus, caramel, floral hops, malts. Very dry and bitter finish. Pretty good pale ale overall.

My Bottom Line :
Mildly honeyed and toasted malts garnish this session APA’s citrusy hop resins for lean quenching experience.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slice of foam tops the misty bronze.
-The wooden hop bitterness is leveled with the rest of the flavor profile’s moderate intensity.
-The mouthfeel is slender, but never thin.
-The nose could be brighter. This smells (and tastes) like a second running brew...

On tap at The Ginger Man, NYC.
