COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

Pours deep gold into a shaker. White head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Dark resin aromas. Thin with resin and grapefruit upfront with an abrupt pith finish.

Can: Strong pine needle nose with pencil shavings also prominent, dandelions. Crystal clear amber, thick yellow head, good lacing. Grass and dandelions, kind of buttery, not really diacetyl, more like buttercups. Light body, easy carbonation. One of the better session IPAs available.

I was disappointed with this one. Had a tuna fishing trip out of San Diego, but this just seemed too watered down surprisingly, even for the "style" of session IPA. I mean, it did taste like a light IPA as opposed to an American pale, but the flavor just didnít work for me.

12oz can from Xroads. Poured a nice looking rusty orange with a large frothy eggshell colored head. Aroma/flavor of dry citrus rind, amber malts, grain, lemon, passion fruit and a slight touch of copper. Medium body with aggressive carbonation and a lingering dry bitterness. This is really good and then when you consider the ABV itís like WOW!!!

12oz can in a tulip. Pours amber with a white head. Aroma of citrusy and floral and earthy hops, some pale and light caramel malts, and some dough. Flavor the same with some bitterness at the end. Average texture. A pretty good session IPA, but not the best beer ever.

Aroma is yeast, pine and hops. The flavor is grapefruit, pine needles, light citrus and a lightly bitter finish.

Pours a bright gold with a good-sized off-white head. The aroma is very nice, with some floral and citrus hops that arenít too overpowering, but are well situated for the style. The taste has the floral and fruity character from the hops, a little bit of bitterness, and a little bit of bready malt. Light to medium-bodied with good carbonation. Not as enjoyable overall as some of the other Ballast Point offerings, but a very nice and sessionable hoppy brew. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 02-17-2010

Draught at TJís: Aroma of cirtus, grapefruit, and hops. Very nice aroma for such a low alcohol beer. Poured amber in color with a small, white head that diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Slightly hazy. Lightly sparkling. Good lacing. Flavor is medium sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of hops, citrus, grapefruit, malt, and slight caramel. Medium body. Tingly, then dry texture. Average carbonation. Medium sweet, medium to heavily bitter, hop, grapefruit, malt, and caramel finish. This beer demonstrates that 3.5%ABV does not mean no flavor. I am impressed.

Had this on draft at sheffields. Orange cloudy pour with creamy white head. Light honey pine and slightly hoppy taste. Good for a session IPA
