COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

Can from bottle shop. It pours deep orange-copper with a decent white head. The nose is bitter-sweet, stewed orange, peach, muffin, toasty sugars, mild caramel and marmalade. The taste is crisp, bitter, big grapefruit hit, lemon, pine needles, light metallic twang, caramel, pepper, toasty grass and resin with a dry finish. Light-medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Decent session gear.

Light amber pour, white head. Lots of hops in the nose, some citrus and grass with a caramel note. Flavor is big on the hops, caramel notes come through and hard to imagine its only 3.5. Nice.

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Pale amber color with a thin white head and spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus and hops. Light-bodied and effervescent with flavors of grassy hops, citrus and malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

355ml can. Impressive deep gold color, foamy white head. Aroma is melon, fuzzy peach, hibiscus, dank, tangerine, and pretzel. Flavor is dry and almost savory in the finish with a pretzel-like malt quality. Some herbal notes int eh flavor, bone dry pine finish. Interesting session ipa, pretty much just malt and bitterness in the flavor but a complex aroma.

Good session ale, and I do not mind the terminology. Very good orange flavour. 50 IBU. Very nice for 3.5% abv.

[2/20/15] Draught at Ballast Point Old Grove in San Diego. Hazy golden-orange. Aroma of nice citric and slightly tropical hops. Rather dry flavor with fruity hops. Quite light-bodied. Nice and refreshing.

Pours clear deep golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, citrus, grape and herbs. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium bitter with a long citrus, grape and herbal finish. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

GABF 2013. Pours a dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Somewhat spicy hoppy, grassy herbal, light fruity aroma. Really easy drinking, grapefruit, orange citrusy, toasted malty flavor. Solid, easy drinking beer.

12 oz can. (Bruisin Ales) Asheville, NC.
Clear golden amber colour with a small off-white head. Bitterness, piney and resiny hops and malt in the aroma. The flavour is piney hops, moderate bitterness and malt. Very balanced and surprisingly rich for a 3.8% brew.

Pint on tap at Dutch’s. Very convincing, is my initial impression. Good Moderate to bigger bitter taste, minimal sweet. Mostly clear red orange color. Nice Thin off white head, with good retention. Good bits and splotches of lace. Nice piney aroma, some orange citrus, caramel biscuity malts. Lightly toasty. Medium, maybe slightly lighter body. Very satisfying, convincing session IPA.
