COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

Draught Small, off-white head over amber-orange ale. Hops, C-hops, but in a discreet citrussy aroma; as well as green apple ester. Very smoky taste, hopscake - even a lot. Cigarette ashes it really are. Quite a lot of taste for such a low-alcohol beer (the brewery blackboard said 3.5 percent!), but the finish is a bit watery after all, and it is discreet - maybe too discreet, but indeed a very flavourful "session"beer.

12 oz. can from Root Cellar. Pours a clear somewhat burnt tea-like orange color with a couple fingers of off-white head. Notes of pine, grass, tea, tangerine, lemon, biscuit, caramel, orange zest. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a smooth, thin, refreshing mouthfeel. Nothing blasts here, in that west coast IPA kind of way. It lives up to its way in the most satisfying manner.

Tap at the tasting room. Very pale straw-coloured beer. Aroma is lightly citrusy with a light orange peel flavour. A little bit of honeyish sweetness to the malts with a lingering fruity flavour on the back. Easy to knock back... a pretty solid session beer.

My Bottom Line :
Mildly honeyed and toasted malts garnish this session APA’s citrusy hop resins for lean quenching experience.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slice of foam tops the misty bronze.
-The wooden hop bitterness is leveled with the rest of the flavor profile’s moderate intensity.
-The mouthfeel is slender, but never thin.
-The nose could be brighter. This smells (and tastes) like a second running brew...

On tap at The Ginger Man, NYC.

Pour on tap at HopCat, slightly hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of veggie, slight orange, grass, touch of tropical fruit into some biscuit, bread, slight lemon. Taste was a mix of lemon, grass, biscuit, bread, hints of orange, finishing slightly bitter. Other than the DMS it is pretty nice.

Tap @ The Blind Burro, San Diego.
Pours clear copper color with a small head. Nice hoppy aroma with caramel and oranges, some floral notes too. Malty flavor, some oranges, resinous hops and faint grassy notes. A bit disappointing.

Cab at Komachi. Doughy, biscuity nose, some stinky tropical fruit, and citrus. Slightly sweet, light but not thin, peppery finish. A bit of strange doughiness. Light and not outstanding but very impressive for only 3.8%.

Can at home from the good hop. Clear golden orange coloured pour with a loose white head. Aroma is semi sweet grains, tea leaves, light pine and orange peel, sweet caramec notes. Flavour is composed of light caramel, thin malts, pine and orange peel. Earthy pine. Palate is semi crisp, frothy, tangy citrus. Lingering tea leaves. Pretty ordinary session IPA.

Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a hazy golden color with a large fluffy off white head. The aroma and flavor have some toasted bready malts, grass, herbal hops, mild plus bitterness, a bit watery, but decent overall flavor for the abv.

[7483-20150814] Can. Leafy wet peat aroma. Hazy, orange brown body with a quick foamy white head. Biscuit orange slices flavour. Medium body. Good. (7/3/7+/3/14) 3.4
