COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

355ml can from Beer Culture, New York

Pours clear golden with a smooth white head. Aroma of pure fresh hops, grapefruit, lemon, pine and citrus. Taste is smooth, citrusy and piney with loads of fresh juicy hoppiness. Finish is watery, hoppy and fruity with some citrus and pine. Quaffable and hoppy session IPA, although a bit light bodied and watery.

Can. Pours clear orange, large puffy off-white head, dissipates slowly, nice residual lacing. Aroma is perfume, pine, grapefruit, herbal. Flavor follows, light sweet and light bitter, a bit buttery, lots of perfumy hop presence. Light body, pretty solid beer for <4%.

Draft. Golden pour with frothy white head. Tropical fruit, grapefruit, grassy fresh hop tones. Flavor lacks any strength of hop flavor, letdown on flavor.

Tasted at Ballast Point. Light orange color with a fizzy white head. Bright palate. Good hoppy taste and a slightly bitter, crisp, dry finish.

Cask at O’Brien’s: Golden color with a light white foamy head. The nose is pronounced with that typical fresh ask hoppy note. The flavor is a bit on the dry side but has a nice chewy malt backbone to back up all the hops. The finish is tangy and lightly sweet with some honey flavors. A balanced APA that just loves being on cask.

ABR 2014. Very sessionable, just as they describe. I was not aware that the alcohol was so low. Sweet malt and citrus flavors from the hops.

33cl can at the 2nd Annual Midlands tasting on 27th June 2015: cheers Martin. Golden pour with a good white topping. Tropical fruits in the aroma of this hoppy brew, mildly citrusy in the taste: nice blend and proof American brewers can produce a decent beer without too much alcohol in the brew.

Growler from JC’s, wasn’t terribly impressed by the sample but wanted to give it a chance with volume, where my opinion of these lighter offerings tends to improve. Nose orange peel and citrus, very hoppy , pine. Pours hazy orange with a lacing, rocky off-white head. Taste is extremely, bone dry and strongly bitter, light wood and resin, touch of astringency. The light body makes the bitterness stand out all the more. No signs of alcohol, no signs of malt, but great repeatability for such imbalance. Crisp, refreshing session, ein gelungenes Experiment
