COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

New Beer Distributors, NYC can ($2): Pours light copper with a frothy white head. Aroma is grapefruit, lemon, and pine with light malt backbone. Taste is lightly bitter hops. Body is a little on the watery side. This is very light even for this characteristically light style. Refreshing and even a little sweet. It is kind of what I was looking for.

12 oz. can. It pours a deep golden color with a foamy off white head. The aroma is very floral, leafy and citrusy with mild hints of caramel in the background but very hop forward. The flavor has more leafy, herbal, floral hop notes with some grapefruit and lightly toasted caramel. The bitterness is a little strong in the finish, and it has a little more caramel than I would like, but the hop character is up front and center. The strong bitterness gives keeps it dry in the finish as well. Overall, pretty nice, but I would’ve liked less specialty malt and less bitterness.

This beer arrives from the tap a darker color than I was expecting; it is an amber, lightly hazy hue that is topped by a thin, pale tan colored head that is typical for a tap pour. There is a nice, clean hop citrus aroma to this that has notes of orange zest, some bright tangerine character, grapefruit, and a solid lychee note. There is a hint of crystal malt character here in the nose that adds light notes of toasted grain and caramel.

This has a nice biting bitterness to it as it first hits my tongue. It is quite dry which mutes the citrus hop flavors, but not completely as notes of grapefruit, tangerine, spicy citrus oil, a touch of lychee and a lingering apricot note in the finish are all noticeable. This is nice and light feeling on the palate, the hops actually provide some astringent mouthfeel that makes this beer seem a bit fuller than it actually is. Some pine and menthol flavors are also here and help to add to the hop complexity. There is just a hint of malt backbone here with notes of toasted grain and a touch of caramel.

This is very nice, I could drink a lot of this if the alcohol is anywhere near 4%, unfortunately there seems to be quite a bit of conflicting information on the actual alcohol content of this beer. This is perhaps not complext enough, but the mix of dominant hop character and light malt backbone in a low-alcohol form makes for a very nice beer.

Comes out of the tap a beautiful golden Amber - not much head, but that is an artifact of the pour. Aroma is SERIOUSLY hoppy - like getting a good whiff of fresh-cut pine, evergreem and woody, plus fruity hints. Bold flavor makes you feel as though you’re drinking a liquid pine tree. This is a brewski for serious hop fans! Fruity and malty hints come through as well. Texture is firm and very lively and sassy, leaving a woody evergreen finish. Get on an even keel if hops are your bag!

Big hop aroma. All kinds of citrus going on. Full copper color. White head settles to a thick ring. Flavor is a hop bomb with citrus and soda.

Had this on draft at sheffields. Orange cloudy pour with creamy white head. Light honey pine and slightly hoppy taste. Good for a session IPA
