COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

Can. Piney nose, thick floral notes, too. Medium straw color, thick head. Pine, mixed tropical fruit. goes to moderate bitterness, and has some hop tracks in final. Thin-medium body. Light enough and tasty enough, as a session beer.

Poured from a can. Hazy amber. Huge, white head. Lots of lacing. Big piny aroma with a hint of citrus. Tastes the same as it smells. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Pours hazy copper with a fluffy white head. Amber-style malts and earthy hops come through on the nose for me. Taste is mostly bitter with some citrus hops and malt peeking through. Not a favorite but drinkable and pretty impressive for under 4%.

On tap at Hop Scholar. Pours a clear copper with small frothy white head that lasts leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong citrus, grapefruit, hemp. Medium mouthfeel with nice grapefruit, resin, and light malt. Very good.

Draft at sb. Pours a crystal cear medium amber with a loose whitish head. Big sweet tangy nose, showing pineapple and grapefruit. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Caramel, pineapple, and grapefruit mid palate. Beautiful light body and very clean. Nice light finish.

I’ve gotta give some points to Ballast for making a session IPA under four percent alcohol. It pours a nice clear orange color w/ a foamy white head that leaves patchy lace on the side of the glass. It has a great hop nose with lots of mandarin orange specifically along w/ maybe a bit of pine and some assorted and various fruity flavors some of which seem to come from an estery yeast well. This is a dry beer but there is some malt character which implies a bit of sweetness and brings out a slight cherry-like note from one of the six hops they used in this thing. It finishes w/ a firm, earthy bitterness. This is a nice beer something about the hop character to this strikes me as not quite dead on but I enjoy it quite a bit nonetheless.

12 oz. can. Pours an orangish amber with a big ol eggshell colored head. Aroma of pine, herbal notes, grass, and citrus hops. Flavor is herbal and pine bitterness, mild caramel sweetness. Light bodied with zippy carbonation. Finishes long and hoppy. Pretty nice.

Can poured into a pint glass. Pours dark orange with a tan head. Aroma is mostly citrus. Taste is unique for an IPA... mostly caramel and brown sugar sweetness. Smells like an IPA but drinks like an Irish red ale. Not bad, but not what I’d expect from a session IPA.

Can - golden pour with white foamy head. Nose of light citrus. Taste of light citrus and medium hop bitterness. Good for what it is but I wish it had a stronger fruit sweetness presence. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
