COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

Tasty session ipa, albeit with maybe a touch too many hops. Some orange notes happen early on, but then the beer slides into a long, bitter finish that swallows much of the flavor. Itís still pretty flavorful for under 4%.

355ml can from Beer Culture, New York

Pours clear golden with a smooth white head. Aroma of pure fresh hops, grapefruit, lemon, pine and citrus. Taste is smooth, citrusy and piney with loads of fresh juicy hoppiness. Finish is watery, hoppy and fruity with some citrus and pine. Quaffable and hoppy session IPA, although a bit light bodied and watery.

12 oz. can, consumed on 1-11-15. Pours a nice, clear bronze with moderate effervescence and a large amount of uneven, cream-colored head. Produces good lacing. Looks good. Nice, pleasant, floral, dry hoppiness in the aroma. Subtle yet surprisingly strong but quite nice smell features scents of pine resin and cedar. Pleasant, hoppy flavor is floral and dry. The flavor largely matches the aroma, though itís not quite as strong. Nice, dry, dirt-like aftertaste. Light body. Soft in the palate. Insubstantial palate effects. Overall, this is a one-dimensional beer, but it is good in that one dimension. Really well done. This is exactly what a beer of this style should be. Itís aromatic, flavorful, and drinkable, and itís the best session IPA Iíve had. This is a very well done, professional effort by a darn good brewery.

On draft at OíBriens. This APA -advertised at 4.5% abv - arrived a clear medium amber color with a small white head. The aroma is dominated by hops, lots of grapefruit and other citrus in the nose along with light sweet malts and oddly enough, a whiff of bubblegum. The taste doesnít disappoint, with lots of bold hoppy flavors, more citrus along with floral notes and fresh fruity malts. Light body and gently crisp carbonation. This was much more flavorful and bold than I expected - definitely would be a great session ale. Another nice one from Ballast Point!

This was a damn good session ale. Very hoppy both in nose and flavor. Some sweet bready malt, but very mild. Body is very light, but still pretty dry and resiny. The beer was copper in color.

Tap @ Ballast Point. Poured a mostly clear golden color with an off-white head. The aroma was citrusy and hop forward. Citrus flavor that was light with a semi-sweet malt base. Bitter dry finish with a light body.

Tasted on tap at brewery during the RBSG 2008. This pale ale pours a medium amber color from the tap. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is grapefruity and floral. A medium to lighter bodied Pale Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are grapefruity and citrusy. A touch of peach as well. Light and refreshing. Good flavors, at 3.5% alcohol this would be a great session ale. I could see drinking this on the porch on a warm summer afternoon. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a dark gold color, with a small off white head. Smells of citric hops and light malts combined. The hop character was pretty profoundi nthe flavor which was nice. Got some good grapefruit citrus mixed in as well to give it some depth. Very simple and easy drinking pale ale. Little hop bitterness in the clean finish. Pretty decent.
