COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

Really packs in a good west coast hoppy pine and citrus aroma for only 3.8%. Iím a sucker for session IPAís because they taste great and Iíve learned over the years that many, if not most situations I donít want a 7-10% beer but I always want some flavor. I can definitely see me picking up some more next summer for going up north and hanging out on the boat during the day. Still not my favorite session IPA but very good.

Can.

Oh man, this is pretty close to the perfect session IPA for me. Pours orange with a fluffy off-white head. Massive tangerine aroma with a bit of pineapple and something else tropical--lychee? A bit of crackery malt on the back. Good citrus hop flavors (I donít get any of the onion that Prufrock does, and usually Iím super sensitive to onion/garlic). Super crushable. At 3.8 ABV, one can crush away. I love it. I hope I can find a regular source.

tl;dr summary: Perfect ISA.

BOD 042/15. Pours a clear amber with a hint of garnet. Outstanding head volume and retention, world class lacing. World class nose of blended hops. Citrus (grapefruit, lemon), tropical (mango, pineapple) and pine all make an appearance over a subtle biscuit. Light medium body that has a smooth texture and a bit of oiliness. Slightly above normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a nice burst in the finish. The outstanding flavor profile is intense and hop flavor forward, slightly complex and fairly balanced. It begins with hop flavors that never relinquish the forefront. The flavors follow the nose with a blended hop profile that begins with tropical, flows to citrus and shifts to grapefruit and pine in the middle. The middle is mildly bitter over a hint of biscuit. The finish is slightly dry and a rind bitterness lingers. A superb session beer and possibly the ultimate lawnmower beer.

Can poured to pint glass. Sweet and fragrant aroma. Juicy hops bite, citric sweetness. This does not taste like a session beer, itís become my new favorite low abv beer.

On cask at the PP Real Ale Fest. Pours a mostly transparent, honey gold color with a thick head of sudsy white. Clean, refreshing hop aromas of citrusy lemon blossoms and a hint of caramel malt. Simple, but extremely clean with a really fresh hop aroma. Light bodied, creamy mouthfeel with a soft, cask-typical carbonation level. Bready malt flavors with a hint of caramel up front on the palate, followed by a wave of fresh, floral, lemon blossom hops. Wonderfully refreshing and clean for a low ABV beer; completely devoid of the cereal-like grainy malts, astringency, or naked yeast byproducts that often pollute beers in this weight class. Quaffable, and flavorwise, enjoyable enough on cask for me to seek out several pulls. This was the highlight of the RA festival offerings for me.

Draft from the brewery. Tons of hops. Citrusy and fruity. I love this trend towards really hoppy, low gravity brews.

Also on tap at Caponeís. This beer is a fantastic, full of flavor beer, in a small package. Low ABV makes for a great easy drinking session beer. Very clear in appearance. The aroma is very citrus, and the taste concurs. The malt is obviously light in this beer. This is a great IPA, with a solid hop background and foreground.

Pours a bright gold with a good-sized off-white head. The aroma is very nice, with some floral and citrus hops that arenít too overpowering, but are well situated for the style. The taste has the floral and fruity character from the hops, a little bit of bitterness, and a little bit of bready malt. Light to medium-bodied with good carbonation. Not as enjoyable overall as some of the other Ballast Point offerings, but a very nice and sessionable hoppy brew. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 02-17-2010

On draft at Capones. Pours a cloudy light orange yellow gold with a frosty medium sized white head. Aroma of grapefruit, bitter hops and light floral hints. Taste is much the same as the aroma. Has a perfumy aftertaste. Hoppy.
