Lager meets IPA in a winning combination.

Our Fathom India Pale Lager combines time-honored lagering techniques with the hop profiles of a West Coast IPA recipe. The cold-fermenting lager yeast provides a clean base that allows the citrus and pine aromas from the hops to really shine. The result is a gold medal beer with a refreshing, easy drinking character and just the right amount of depth.

Bottle from BottleDog, Edinburgh. Clear golden body with a thin white head. Faint lacing. Aroma of honey, straw, pine and grass. Flavour is sweeter than expected - toffee, lemon sweets and grass. Medium body with a light, oily texture. Soft fizz. Not one I’d buy again.

Can. Golden with white head. Hoppy aroma, some hot alcohol, solvent, grapefruit and pine. Taste is fruity but has some raw alcohol in there like vodka flavour, some lager flavour. Quite bitter.

Golden yellow color out of the can with a short lived white head. Nose of citrus rind and alcohol. I didn’t notice the abv on the can. Lots of pine and dried orange peel over crusty bread and that alcohol. Interesting beer.

12 ounce can from Beer Run. Clear golden, large white head, good retention. Aroma of herbal, resinous hops and pale malt. The taste is green, herbal hops, pale malt, a bit of pine. Medium bodied, mildly crisp, mild lingering bitterness.

Can from Bert’s Mostly clear deep golden color bubbly white head. Lemony citrus with a sweet crisp bready pilsner maltiness. Lingering mild earthy citrus bitterness. Quaffable brew.

Can from World Bee Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Pear and peach nose, along with alcohol (not fumes, exactlly, but a definite presencein the aroma). Clear orange-tinted gold straw color, thin white head. Caramel, grapefruit, and again a decided alcohol note. Malty, but thin. Bitter finish. Thin-medium body. Seems bigger than it really is -- light body, thin flavors make the alc. stand out a bit too much.
