JoeTheYounger (216), California, USA Oct 6, 2009 On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Poured a light golden color with small white head. Aroma of floral fresh hops and sweet sugars. Taste is very well balanced with a mild bitterness. Medium carbonation. Excellent beer. Very crisp and refreshing. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Aug 18, 2009 Tap at Daily Pint. Nose is nice fruity hops with very ephemeral quality. Taste is lemon zest concentrate, grass, very acidic hop juice. The finish is very dry and acidic and makes it sort of difficult to put down a pint IMO. But still a very interesting pour. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 15, 2009 Strong floral and some citrus hops in the nose. Light grainy malt note. Pours nice bright goldenw ith a thin head. The flavor is really hoppy - lots of floral notes, dry malty tones, citrus hops, some leafy bitterness too. Long lingering hoppy finish with nice dryness and a lager body. Really awesome. BMan1113VR (2752), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Aug 15, 2009 On tap with the brewer. Clear golden, resiliant head. Aroma is herbacious and slightly citrus. Earthy with a touch of toffee. Taste is citrus andherbal. Crisp and good! Light caramel table sugar malt background. Could have fooled me as a real hop forward IPA. Crisp, medium carb, good! LtDan (470), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA Aug 14, 2009 Appearance: Pours a clear amber with 1/8 inch of white head. Didn’t leave much lacing at all.
Aroma: Honey dew, orange rind and zest.
Taste: Grapefruity hops that starts out fruity but finishes bitter.
Mouthfeel: Really thin, and a bit juicy.
Overall: An incredible lager, probably the best smelling and tasting lager. That’s probably because it has so many characteristics that I like out of a West Coast Pale or India Pale Ale. SamGamgee (1394), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Jul 9, 2009 Draught at the brewery. Orange tinted gold color with a lasting white head. Lots of hops in the aroma with flowers, mangos, and peaches adding fruit to the spicy and grassy notes that some more euro hops seem to be adding. The flavor has some light and toasty malt with lots of hop flavor (mango, peach, grapefruit peel) and more bitterness than the sculpin that I had right before. Medium bodied with smooth carbonation. Cool mix of fruity with grassy and spicy hops. I’d definitely like to have this one again. AlabastorJones (761), San Francisco, California, USA Feb 16, 2009 A killer beer, but what style is this? Can’t really be rated as a lager at all, it’s really a very light bodied pale ale, very hoppy, citrs hop nose, no malt character can shine through the hop flavors and aromas, tasty DaSilky1 (1924), San Diego, California, USA Jan 30, 2009 Super clear beer...hoppy nose, hoppy flavors. Nice old fruit flavors with both a touch of sweetness and lasting bitterness in the finish. Interesting and definitely a success.
