Lager meets IPA in a winning combination.

Our Fathom India Pale Lager combines time-honored lagering techniques with the hop profiles of a West Coast IPA recipe. The cold-fermenting lager yeast provides a clean base that allows the citrus and pine aromas from the hops to really shine. The result is a gold medal beer with a refreshing, easy drinking character and just the right amount of depth.

Draft at sb. Pours a cloudy burnished medium amber with a dense and creamy white head and tons of lace. Rich grassy nose. Creamy heavy body with lively carb. Grassy, crackery, caramelly mid palate. Long earthy grassy finish.

Bottle. Interesting brew, I can taste lager and IPA. Light and crisp, even with an ABV of 7%. Grassy notes and grapefruit in flavor. Nose is more representative of a lager, somewhat musky. Nice finish, crisp with some lasting bitterness. Not too shabby.

650ml bottle. Mostly clear gold pour with a white head. Nose is grapefruit hoppy and doesn’t bely much lager influence. Continues that theme in the taste with plenty of grassy, grapefruit hop bitterness. I detect much more IPA influence than lager. Does that make it a success or a failure? Probably a success. Good stuff.

Bomber. Light golden orange colored with a layer of off-white foam. Aroma is floral hops, citrus, pine resin and toasted malt. The flavor has elements of grapefruit and orange rind, toasted grains, caramel, pine and grassy hops bitterness. The body is moderately creamy with medium carbonation and a clean, bitter finish. Tastes like a quality San Diego style IPA with a mild Lager presence in the finish.

Pours gold into a tulip. Bright white head with good retention recedes leaving gloppy retention. Resin and tropical fruit aromas. Sweet caramel and resin front to back. Lasting bitter citrus finish.

Nice large 2 inch+ head of bright white bubbles. Lots of citrus, corn flakes and some toasted grains. Color is a clear dark gold. Moderate bitterness in the flavor with lots of flowers and pine. More cereal grains, toast and late grapefruit pith. Hmmm, bit more bitter than I first expected as the bitterness comes on strong at the finish and lingers for a long time. Slight dryness and tartness at the finish with more lingering grapefruit and a hint of alcohol warming. This is much better than I expected. A pretty damn solid brew.

Bottle. Pours crystal clear orange amber with a medium off-white puffy creamy head that slowly dissipates leaving a ton of lacing on the glass. Aroma is IPA - citrus, grapefruit, pine, perhaps muted as compared to the best IPAs, some graininess underneath. Flavor is very hop forward, light sweet, light bitter, nice fading bitter finish. No real graininess present in the flavor. Medium light body. A nice and refreshing beer.

650 ml bottle. Pours a translucent copper color with a medium fluffy white head that has crazy lacing and good retention. The aroma is medium in strength with limes and lemons. The taste is more lemony citrus with some grapefruit and bitter walnuts set in a biscuit malt base. The palate is light but effective and the carbonation lively. Finishes short and dry with a bit of lingering bitters. Overall: Wow, much better than expected. A perfect summer brewski.
