COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lager meets IPA in a winning combination.

Our Fathom India Pale Lager combines time-honored lagering techniques with the hop profiles of a West Coast IPA recipe. The cold-fermenting lager yeast provides a clean base that allows the citrus and pine aromas from the hops to really shine. The result is a gold medal beer with a refreshing, easy drinking character and just the right amount of depth.

Tap @ PP Carlsbad. Clear golden pour with a thick white head of foam. Aroma is dry, bready malt with pungent floral hops and pine. Taste is hop bitterness up front with some malt sweetness and more pine/bitterness into the finish. Clean drinker. Doesn’t taste like a pilsner to me; more like a clean, lager/IPA. Good beer though. I’d buy this if bottled.

Aroma is odd and mild with menthol tones, hints of biscuits, gooseberry bush and fruits. Flavour has menthol, some grainy malt, fruity tones and glue. Finishes with some grassy tones and minerals. A total disappointment.

Pours dark orange with a small white head. Aroma of grassy hops, piney notes, resin, citrus and earthy notes. Taste is malty, crisp and sweetish with some stuffy old hoppy notes, grass, resin, pine and grass. Finish is sweetish, a bit musty and stuffy with some resin, pine and aged grassy hoppiness. Not very fresh.

22oz bottle pours clear dark orange with 2 finger head. Nose is sweet honey orange, some tangerine, light grass, bsicuit and subtle citrus. Taste leans toward sweet malt, orange zest, candy citrus, toast, honey, some light peach and tangerine juice, medium bitterness. Finishes mildly sweet with a continuation of the palate and some lingering sticky bitter orange.

From a bomber into a snifter. Pours a very light, clear blond with not much lacing or head. Nice lemon zest aroma. Mouthfeel is light and clean, as expected. Flavor is an exceptional balance between a smooth, clean lager and tropical and grassy hops. Nothing bitter about this at all. Drinks like a 5% rather than a 7% beer. Really like this one. IPLs are very hit or miss, but when they’re good like this one, they’re really good. Also, plus points for it only being $5.50 for a bomber... but minus points for not having a date on it.

Tried this brew for the first time at Jacob’s Field in Cleveland. I had heard a lot about this Brewery, so it was a natural choice when I saw it was available. Reminded me a lot of Bell Two Hearted Ale. Hops were very noticeable, but the other flavours balanced it quite well. Unlike other IPA’s where the hops are overwhelming, which is not my taste. I was not disappointed. Will be looking for this beer again. MB

Golden and clear with a healthy bead. Aroma is a little funky with some pine. Flavor is malt forward and astringent. Hops aren't apparent. Not bad- but not an "India pale" lager. Kind of bummed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a nice, clear gold color with some lacing and next to no head retention. It smells strongly of malt and tastes very similar to it. Another excellent beer from Ballast Point. They never disappoint.
