COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lager meets IPA in a winning combination.

Our Fathom India Pale Lager combines time-honored lagering techniques with the hop profiles of a West Coast IPA recipe. The cold-fermenting lager yeast provides a clean base that allows the citrus and pine aromas from the hops to really shine. The result is a gold medal beer with a refreshing, easy drinking character and just the right amount of depth.

Tap at Ballast Point. The beer pours to a glowing golden body with a white head. Aroma is hoppy and fruity. Flavor is bitter hops with a dash of sulfur. Lots of grains like an artisan bread. The palate is bitter and medium bodied.

Quite dry. Grapefruit and pine, a lot of pine. Feels drier than normal IPAs. Very easy drinking, and very light, and nice piney notes.

Pours a light copper color with an amber hue. Aroma of pine and citrus mixed with clean hops. Taste is mild and mildly sweet. A slight bitterness that mixed well with the sugar flavor. The alcohol content is hidden well, which made this beer enjoyable.

Tap @Mikkeller Bar, Viktoriagade. Pours clear golden with a small, staying, creamy white head. Aroma has pleasant hops, grapefruit, pineapple, apricot, mild doughy. Medium carbonation, fine dry and very creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is elegant, soft doughy and light crisp malts, orange zest, apricot, grapefruit. Lingering, soft bitterness with no hint of off-flavours. Top-notch.

On tap @ Mudville. A near clear golden one with a medium sized light lacing just off-white top. Really fruity and delicious nose here. Lots of peachy fruitiness, in way i would have guessed this is a ale. It also has traces of fresh pine cones and res sweet apples. Lovely. It has a little bit more of a strong pilsner in the taste. Some alcohol tones, but its really well hopped. Light oily on the mouthfeel and below average prickling on the carbonation. I get lots of pear ice cream here. Quite a lot really. Not sure why though. Light drymouthing finish with a little bit of alcohol. Quite a good one. 16.06 2013

Clear dullish golden pour feeds a 2cm thick, rather tight and uniform small-bubbled white head. This was bought 2 weeks ago and seems quite fresh. Convincing aroma has slightly tropical (pineapple, mango), gently floral and agressively resinous/piney scents. Obviously hop driven. In mouth, it is clean and maltiness takes a lot more room, but comes with more residual sugars than Id like. I may be dreaming, but I imagine a sulphur note back there, quickly washed away by the strong resinous hops which dominate flavours and close the beer with a rough-edged, rather harsh bitterness less supported by the malt sugars than rendered even rougher by the surprisingly alcoholic surroundings. While not very thick, it does feel stronger than 7%. Im not as charmed as I hoped, spoiled that I am to have close access to Jacks Abby that makes softer, more wholesome examples.

Loved it! Even better that it suprised me- was fully prepared to not give another lager the time of day. The lagering technique seems to be the perfect complement to the west coast hops. Allows the hop flavors (pine, citrus, floral) to shine but without too much sweetness. Crisp and clean and somehow flavors are more pure than your typical IPA. Pours on the light side for an IPA- decent head, lots of bubbles. Perfect for summer- have already bought another bomber.

Slightly hazy dark yellow body with a tall, sticky, white head. The aroma is sweet and grassy. The flavor is sweet, following the aroma. Just a touch of bitterness in the finish. Medium body. Just not a big fan of the sweet, strong Pale Lagers so far. Thanks to crajun for sending this one!
