COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lager meets IPA in a winning combination.

Our Fathom India Pale Lager combines time-honored lagering techniques with the hop profiles of a West Coast IPA recipe. The cold-fermenting lager yeast provides a clean base that allows the citrus and pine aromas from the hops to really shine. The result is a gold medal beer with a refreshing, easy drinking character and just the right amount of depth.

22oz bottle. lively clear pale orange with a large, whipped white head. peach, pale malt, marshmallow aroma. a lager smoothness with a clean bittering and long hoppy finish. the body seems slightly more full with the lager yeast. i like the bitterness level.

So refreshing after a long day at work. This IPL really hits the mark with a strong hop profile like an IPA combined with the drinkability of a lager. Canít wait to see it on the shelves in bottles!

On-tap at BP Linda Vista. Pours an orange yellow color with a fluffy off-white head. Smells light and fruity hoppy like a lighter single IPA with more of a malty backbone. The taste is super fruity hoppy, sweet citrus, with a lingering malt profile. Grapefruit, orange, and then smooth and grassy bitter on the finish. Medium, bitter body with vibrant carbonation.

On tap at Ballast Point in August 2009. Poured a nice golden color at the lighter end of the spectrum, but well within a lagerís range. A nice white head on it. Smell is strong with hops--lots of pine and a bit of backing citrus and floral. Taste was nice and resiny with little malt backing. We had a few IPLís on the trip, and this one was right up there with Humulus from The Bruery. Nice mouthfeel and fantastic drinkability. This is an emerging style Iíd like to see more of, and Ballast Point has absolutely nailed it. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 02-17-2010

Crystal clear gold with a white head. Clean hoppy aroma. Grapefruit, citrus, some pine, a little grain, lemon peel. Medium bodied but very crisp. Flavor is packed full of the hops. Grapefruit, citrus, lemon peel, light pine, and just a touch of malt. Finish is dry and bitter. I was surprised at how well this worked. The crisp, clean flavors of a lager really let the hops shine through. Fantastic. (Draught at Thrash Zone, Yokohama)

pours a orangey straw yellow with a small white head and some lacing. Aroma is of citrus, grass, pine, pilsner malt, bready malts, and some tropical fruits in the background. Taste is of citrus, tropical fruits, pilsner malt, fresh cut grass, and baked bread. Has a medium body with a super creamy mouthfeel and a nice dry, bitter, refreshing finish. Overall, a excellent beer that I would classify has a cross between a IPA and a pils.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark golden color with an enormous off-white head on it. Nose is quite hoppy with some nice citrusy grapefruit overtones to it, yet very light and easy to take in. Taste is a little bitter, but not overly so. Feels smooth, almost to the point of a cream ale. Nice brew.
