COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lager meets IPA in a winning combination.

Our Fathom India Pale Lager combines time-honored lagering techniques with the hop profiles of a West Coast IPA recipe. The cold-fermenting lager yeast provides a clean base that allows the citrus and pine aromas from the hops to really shine. The result is a gold medal beer with a refreshing, easy drinking character and just the right amount of depth.

Bottled; color is light yellow with a golden center, lively carbonation produces a fine textured head with lacing. Aroma is grains/cereal, dry pine wood, apricot and orange and grapefruit citrus. Interesting flavor that has highlights of both cereal, biscuit and apple notes typical of lagering that transitions into a slap-in-the-face dose of peppery hops. Im really enjoying this one; the lack of the typical malty sweetness of a San Diego IPA leaves nothing but unadulterated hop flavor. A great deviation from the west coast IPA by a great brewery. I could drink this ALL DAY during a summer beach outing here in San Diego...

355ml can from Club de Cervezas. Pours a clear golden color with a big white frothy head that diminishes quickly and leaves a thin lacing. Aroma is hoppy, clean and well-defined with citrusy notes dominating. Hints of lemon, lime, zest, cedar, pine spruce, prickly pear and grass. Good, refreshing, solid. Taste is medium bitter with citrus again taking the center spot. Lemony touches mix up with grassy and herbal bitterness. Refreshing, but mild for expectations. Body is light to medium with alcohol unnoticeable despite the big 7% abv. Soft carbonation. A nice, refreshing IPL but a bit one-dimensional and nothing extraordinary.

Tin from Systembologet. Gauzy orange speckling with white suds. Initially hot peachy lemon and honey lozenges, Halls Mentholyptus flavour becoming smoother as the intoxication ratchets. Scent of tinned peach flan, tripel-like Deep Heat, Halls and pot pourri. Soggy with a batter and honey sweetness that no lager on Earth should ever possess.

Samplers at Al Tap Lounge. Delicate citrus, some fruit aroma. High carbonated, mid body. Wierd booze, some malty balance and slight bitter. I dont think my condition is bad, may be the beer keg got wrong, could feel some wierd taste. Dissapointing

Can from AA. Clear honey orange with a small white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Amarillo-like nose with pine and citrus with some tea leaves as well. Average carbonation with a medium to medium light body. Easy to drink but very IPA-like on the palate. Sweetness balanced with bitterness for sure. Slight bitter finish with some pepper. Definitely more of an IPA than a lager.

On tap @ Ballast Point in Little Italy. Clear medium orange, white head. Aroma is fruity with vegetal undertones. Flavours of cloudberry, pine, grass, light celery, clean pale malt backbone, moderately bitter finish. Very good.

355 ml can. Clear golden body with a nice off-white head. Aroma is nice as well with citric fruit, peach and hint of spices. Flavor is mild pale malt, lots of citric fruit, good bitterness and hint of caramel. Medium bodied and fruity, bitter aftertaste. Somehow a bit unusually and strange, but not bad or weird. Just got to get rid of the good old prejudices and it’s a rather pleasant brew and a nice thirst quencher.

Bottle. The pour is golden. The aroma is mainly that of a lager with a hint of hops. The taste is all lager, I do not get any of the hop profile or the notes from it. A good drinking lager is that is what you are looking for. Not my favorite IPL out there.

Bomber: Aroma is a very floral fruit hop note with little to no malt characteristics. Appearance is a clear golden with a thick white head that diminishes slowly. Taste has got a really nice grapefruit and lightly spicy hop note with almost a mango like note to it. Palate is medium carbonation with a light crisp aftertaste with a lingering tinge of the hop notes. Overall, Pretty darn good stuff. I tend to enjoy a IPA style lager. Cheers!
