Lager meets IPA in a winning combination.

Our Fathom India Pale Lager combines time-honored lagering techniques with the hop profiles of a West Coast IPA recipe. The cold-fermenting lager yeast provides a clean base that allows the citrus and pine aromas from the hops to really shine. The result is a gold medal beer with a refreshing, easy drinking character and just the right amount of depth.

Bottled; color is light yellow with a golden center, lively carbonation produces a fine textured head with lacing. Aroma is grains/cereal, dry pine wood, apricot and orange and grapefruit citrus. Interesting flavor that has highlights of both cereal, biscuit and apple notes typical of lagering that transitions into a slap-in-the-face dose of peppery hops. Im really enjoying this one; the lack of the typical malty sweetness of a San Diego IPA leaves nothing but unadulterated hop flavor. A great deviation from the west coast IPA by a great brewery. I could drink this ALL DAY during a summer beach outing here in San Diego...

Was ok to start off with, tasting like a usual lager IPA, but then it became sweet and solventy, and after sitting a while and sniffing, I worked out that it was whiskey like to the nose.

Can from SB Strömstad enjoyed at home
Copper, small haze, big beige head. Smell of floral hops, pine, citrus, some light malts. Light to moderate sweet, quite clean, gives a lot of space for the hops; some citrus, alot of pine and hints of pine. Medium bitter, resiny tail. Quite nice

Canned. Clear golden color. Thin lacy head. Strong, pungent hay and fragrant spicy, slightly berryish/honeyish hop aroma. Sweet grains, a hint of bread. Sweetish, caramelly malt flavor, strong grassy/orangey/sweet herbal hop flavor. Soft hop bite is herbal. Medium body, soft carbs, slightly oily. Strong flavors and aromas, but not my drink of choice.

Burk från SB. Orange öl med gulvitt skum. Doft av framförallt citrus och grästoner. Detta återkommer i smaken med en viss maltighet och lättare kådatoner. Ingen direkt smakskillnad mot en IPA.

From Hopleaf. Clear copper pour. White fizzy head with wet yeasty spots. Streaky lacing. Smells of deep deep resin, crystal malt, some grass/corn. Tastes dry, bitter, resin, light spice. More lager-y in the taste than the aroma. Body is medium-to-thick, slick and crisp with a bitter dry spicy finish. Nice.

22oz bottle from QClub at home. Clear golden honey pour with yeasty crop circle-y head. Aroma is lager-y, with a surprisingly strong pine resin hops - nice. Taste is, not unexpectedly, like a straight up piney IPA but with the crispness and seeming lightness of a lager. Tingly bitter finish is nice. Dry. Fairly malty for this style. Would get again.

35,5 cl can @ home, canned 14.01.2015
Aroma is odd and mild with menthol tones, hints of biscuits, gooseberry bush and fruits. Flavour has menthol, some grainy malt, fruity tones and glue. Finishes with some grassy tones and minerals. A total disappointment.

355ml can, BBE 14.01.2016

Pours dark orange with a small white head. Aroma of grassy hops, piney notes, resin, citrus and earthy notes. Taste is malty, crisp and sweetish with some stuffy old hoppy notes, grass, resin, pine and grass. Finish is sweetish, a bit musty and stuffy with some resin, pine and aged grassy hoppiness. Not very fresh.

22oz bottle pours clear dark orange with 2 finger head. Nose is sweet honey orange, some tangerine, light grass, bsicuit and subtle citrus. Taste leans toward sweet malt, orange zest, candy citrus, toast, honey, some light peach and tangerine juice, medium bitterness. Finishes mildly sweet with a continuation of the palate and some lingering sticky bitter orange.
