Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

(Keg at One Pint Pub, 20151002) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, sweetness, pine, bell peppers and malts. Palate was medium bodied and burning with medium carbonation. Flavours were bell peppers, sweetness, fruitiness, malts, pine and bitterness. Aftertaste had chilli, sweetness and bitterness. A very burning brew but not really a bad one. Drinkability was not good.

Uma cerveja equilibrada! Boa carbonatação, aroma bem evidenciado da pimenta! É um sabor único e apimentado! Bem apimentado! Muito boa como todas sculpins!!

Light amber, clear, lasting head. Assertive, inebriating floral nose. Medium body, agressive chili flavor out of balance with the body, lean mouthfeel, intense heat but not from alcohol, avg length. Moderately bitter, off-dry. Chili hits your mouth hard at first, followed by complex hops and rich malt. Great beer with beautiful, complex hop and malt character, unfortunately unsupported by insufficent body and overpowered by too much chili ( even for a chili head like myself). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma smells sweet, downplays the heat for sure. First sip I held it in to get a good taste and you could feel the burn building, quickly none the less. It is a good burn. A good, spicy taste. But after swallowing the burn burns. For me. A little too hot when passing down the throat. For sure need to be a fan of heat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Clear gold, low head. Nose of habanero, plus some citrus and light malt and a bit of tropical, but the peppers dominate. Flavor is repugnant spicy, firey chili peppers that have no business in an IPA. This is crap, and a terrible idea.

A: Orange with a nice 3 finger head, disappears fast though. N: Grapefruit, chili T: Starts off with a nice grapefruit flavour and then the habanero kicks in! LOADS of habanero! Hard to get anything else. O: It is nice, but it's really hardcore with the habanero. I like it, but it would've been nice with a little less of the heat.

Bottle from Stone in Asagaya. Pours a clear gold with a small white head. Aromas of passion fruit, mango and citrus with some light pepper. Starts out with some nice tropical fruit at the beginning, but then comes the rush of habanero pepper. There is some grapefruit in there as well but a long peppery finish that kills all the flavor in the original. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange/amber with small bubbly white head. Aroma had some light citrus notes, earth, and pepper. Flavor was mainly heat and pepper spice (and I love hot stuff). Just too over the top with the pepper, dirt, earth, and the citrus was over-powered and nearly non-existent. Glad I got to try it, just nothing I would ever get again. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Pure heat to finish.

Draught at Tommyknocker Helsinki. Amber color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, habanero, resin, caramel, hops and grass. Bitter finish with habanero, citrus, mango, resin and some hops. Very nice spicy IPA.
