Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

Alldeles för mycket sting, chilin bränner på läpparna och får en att önska att man redan druckit klart ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pour at Upstairs. Pour was clear amber orange with a half inch of innocent looking white foam. Aroma was typical IPA citrus scent, mostly of grapefruit. Taste was citrus and pine. Then the peppers set in... Very hot! I like spices, but this was a bit too much. Peppers overwhelm the hops. Not likely to try again.

[Bottle (355ml)] Pours a clear deep orange with a large lasting frothy white head. Aroma smells like Sculpin at first and then, after a bit, there’s the habanero. The flavour though: Whoa! It is really spicy. Like REALLY spicy. Medium bodied. Super intense, it’s a good thing I like spicy stuff.

Nice citrus mouthfeel with a nice spicy finish. Very tempting with a fruity tang. Great with pizza or Indian food. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap @ The Ginger Man Nee York. Orange amber, not much head. Chilli hop aroma. Overpowering hot spicy sickly chilli flavour and aftertaste. Struggled to finish this one.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Virginia Beach, VA. Dark orange pour with a frothy off-white head. Tropical fruit and grapefruit rind aroma. Since there is no hint of heat in the aroma the first taste is a shock with spicy heat overwhelming the faint mango, tangerine, and grapefruit in the background. Heat lingers on the palate. If you enjoy spicy beers this is done very well but I am not a big fan of spicy foods in general so I am not likely to revisit this one.

Bottle From Cost Plus. Hazy Golden amber in color. Sweet nose with a bit of tropical fruity scent. A little floral with a touch of pepper. Sweet heat up front. Very spicy in the finish. A touch of hops in the background. Pretty good for a pepper beer, but not something I’d want more than one of.

Backlog rating. Keg at Two Bit in BD Shoreditch, London. It pours a clean orange color with small white head. Aroma is floral, grassy, zesty, with grapefruit, lemon leaves. Taste is dry and hot, with notes of lemon, grapefruit, grass and chilies. Quite hot really. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, not my kind of beer

From tap. Hazy pale amber with low head. Aroma of fruits and citrus, some pine and a peppery strain. Taste firstly bitter but that is quickly swept away by a massive onslaught of pepper that lingers. Hot as hell but really OK!
