2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: AUG 5, 2014 Bottle shared by tom10101, thanks? Pours a strong golden with a light white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of hot peppers and perfume, hinting just a little to what is to come. Taste is of mexican food, hot, maybe some fruits, moderately bitter I think and not too sweet. Did I say hot? After two sips the heat is almost scalding and pretty unbearable. Would anyone really want to drink a whole bottle of this? Body is medium, carbonation a touch too high maybe (so much spices and heat to be able to tell). Way too much spices in this one, I almost feel like Iíve been trolled. It wasnít completely bad but it wasnít drinkable at all so weíll never know. Avoid at almost all cost.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle (12 oz). Slightly hazy golden/orange with a small white head and little lacing. Aroma is of caramel, citrusy notes and spices/habanero. Taste is very hot and the habanero takes all the place along light caramel and hints of citrus. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Very hot finish. Ever lasting burning aftertaste. Complete lack of balance. Way too hot. Probably one of the mot burning beers Iíve tried so far. Bad.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap pour. Appearance is similar to the basic, slightly reduced head. Raw pepper in the back ground on noise. Proper burn on taste. Builds nicely. A half pint is plenty, but surprisingly drinkable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap @ Rattle N Hum courtesy of infi. Thanks Jonathan!. Itís a really cloudy looking one this, almost murky brown in the glass with a small off-white head on top. It has a nice fresh grassy herbal tea-like nose with traces of chocolate paper and dark malts. A bit strange but nice. In the mouth itís light oily with a soft carbonation level. I get some soft prickling hints of the habanero, but its nowhere as warming as I was expecting. Some more chocolate paper also appears. Tea like finish. A good one, but I was really hoping for a bit more punch. 14.06.2013

0.6 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
Sculpin has taken an otherwise mediocre beer and then destroyed it by over hopping it and adding a ludicrous amount of habanero heat to it. Hops is supposed to be a subtle flavor, one of several found in a beer. Hops is not supposed to mouthf*%k you into submission. This beer is a combination of the worst ideas in beer: Over hopped IPAs and misdirected American experimentation with over the top flavors. Simply put, this is one of the worst beers I have ever drunk in my life.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Jalapeno scent on the nose was interesting. Heat in the flavor seemed unbalanced. Thinking style and peppers donít mix. Color and palate were exemplars of style. Draft - Ale Yeah! - Decatur, GA

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle given to me by a friend. Iím generally not a fan of chili beers, but this is excellent! The nose is nothing but citrus, and the taste is dry malt and more than enough heat to keep things interesting. Habanero Sculpin is pretty amazing - all of the qualities that make Sculpin a great beer and a blast of heat that adds to its overall flavor profile.
While this is not something Iíd want to drink every day, Iím glad I got at least one opportunity to enjoy it.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma of only pepper skins and faint hops. Gold/copper appearance with a thin foam rim. Taste is overwhelming pepper heat, so much so that the sculpin is completely subdued. Overall, it does say "heat may varyí on the bottle but, unfortunately heat is all I taste.
