COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

Draft at DryHop. Orange with white head. Very spicy beer. Way more than I thought. Tasty tho if you can fight that off

On tap, clear amber pour with small off white head. Aroma of floral hops, grassy and pepper. Taste of floral hops and then the pepper kicks in and overtakes everything good about this beer. I love spicy hot but this totally is off base. Initial great IPA taste, perfect carbonation and mouthfeel and the habanero takes over in the middle and peppery heat finishes strong and long and dry. Not really my thing.

Tap sample. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that lasted with good lacing. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy sour citrus hoppy and roasted pepper aroma. Moderate to heavy bittersweet and hot flavor with a moderate to heavy hot and bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid brew.

Draft shared on tap at Aces and Ales 2 (Las Vegas, NV). Pours an amber orange hue, very healthy glow, faint haze. Frothy whitish head stays as a filmy layer, laces ok. Aromas are more hoppy, floral and grassy, touches of citrus fruit but more gentle. Faint pepper spice. Initial is lighter end of the fold, some spice and citrusy hops mix. A lighter body with some nice peppery spice that grows in a wave. Citrusy hops die out from the front end, with some gentle bread, faint fruit. Middle is spicy, pepper driven, earthy and a touch smokey, medium to firm heat spice. Backend is spicy, dry, and gentle bready malts. The pepper element is firm, stronger, but not ovewhelming for my palate (as a pepper fan admittedly). Some nice spice lines the throat and esophagus. Finis is spice, bready, dry. Some touches of lingering floral hops. Really integrated well. The pepper seemingly kills the hops.. Or maybe itís just an older keg and the hops have faded a bit. Either way, itís a very nice beer on itís own. Nice.

On draught at Saraveza smoke fest. Pours a clear copper with foamy white head. Nose of hops and habanero. Smooth mouthfeel. Taste is first of sweet malt followed by hop and then dominated by habanero warming and flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2013 Pours gold with white head and some lacing. Aroma of peppers and pine hops. Taste is unique. The immediate taste is like the normal sculpin, but then it heads up really quick. Tasty with a kick that left my lips a little numb.

On tap at city beer store. Golden orange color, decent foam, great lacing. Nose has some hint of regular sculpin but it really is dominated by habanero. Great habanero smell. Flavor is the same. I very much like the pepper in here but it is hard to get the ipa. It is there but under the surface. Cool beer, not an everyday drinker.

Tap at Maxís. Pours lightly hazy orange with a medium, frothy white head, short retention with good lacing. Aroma is pine, resin, and citrus hops, habenero, and cracker malt. Flavor is spicy peppers, heavy hops and bitterness, supporting malt and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

ROGUE (2086) - Newark, Delaware, USA - AUG 22, 2013
On tap at Capones. Poured a bright copper color with a two finger frothy white head and light lacing. Aromas of tropical fruits, mango, papaya and guava with some citrus and pine on the side, and only a hint of pepper. Taste starts with a mix of caramel sweetness and piney hops and bitterness. There is some growing heat in the background from the pepper, but not too strong. Through the middle, the heat grows a bit along with stronger bitterness. As the beer finishes, the heat explodes and takes over and lingers for quite a while. Medium body with moderate carbonation, sticky and dry.
