3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear orange pour with thin hazy layer of white foam. Aroma of waxy habenero along with the typical sculpin fragrant orange. Carbonation is average, bitey creamy mouthfeel, finishes dry. Taste has distinct habenero, very waxy, hop flavor takes a backseat - with grass and orange citrus. Very spicy habenero IPA.

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Crisp and hoppy aroma of regular sculpin and I’m also getting some fresh habanero pepper and a dank quality. Average appearance - like most commercial lagers except for a big fluffy pillow of bright white foam. I’m not getting the citrus hops from the deScription, but there is a very brief flash of hops until the peppery heat takes over. It is a lingering spice that lasts well until the last sip. This is very spicy, a sipper for sure. The palate is a little underwhelming. Not very complex - just hops and spice. Unfortunately, I tried regular and grapefruit sculpin before drinking this one (not in the same day) and the habanero just doesn’t live up to the other ones. Just ok.

Well they weren’t lying. There’s definitely habenero in here. Sweet mango, caramel and light fruits quickly give way to hot and smoky habenero.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled. Poured medium golden with lots of find sediment and a creamy, sticky white head. The aroma picked up sweet grapefruit meat and light biscuity notes topped by grapefruit zest, black pepper, and light green peppers. The flavor found similar grapefruit and biscuity notes at the core, with a big, quickly-building peppery head emanating outward.. the Sculpin-y hops get overwhelmed.. long, peppery finish. Medium-bodied and too hot for my liking on the palate.. carbonation was good.. I don’t need another.

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap @ Taphouse Boise. Ordered the 4 oz taster, arrived a golden orange color with a small creamy beige head. The nose is outstanding. In fact this may be the best smelling IPA I can remember to date. Juicy grapefruit, citrus, and tropical fruit. Rich sweet, sour, and tangy. No hint of the heat yet, but it’s on the way. Taste is moderate bitters and a light sweetness… more malty than expected. The heat arrives on the back end and lingers a bit. Really a solid brew, boarder line outstanding. One is probably enough at one time; next time I’ll get a full pint.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a mostly clear and deep burnt orange with a reddish hue and topped by a thick, rocky layer of off white foam at the head that quickly settles to a thin film and leaving rings of lace around the glass. The aroma shows notes of orange and grapefruit citrus hops that are quickly suppressed by the fruity, habanero peppers and a underlying malt base of toasted caramel. As it warms the vegetal, pepper and spice really start to come out. The flavor follows with some light citrus fruit and grapefruit sweetness up front and then followed by the spicy, habanero peppers and skins and some toasted caramel malt sweetness. Some citrus hops add balancing bitterness on the back end, but the spice and heat really come through on the finish. Medium bodied with balanced carbonation that leads to a spicy, bitter citrus finish with the heat lingering for awhile. The heat and spice build after each sip. The habeneros are very well integrated so that it just isn’t a pepper beer, but ultimately not one I could drink a lot or all the time. Still a nice addition to the Sculpin line, but I prefer grapefruit the best.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from local liquor store. Deep golden color, white head. Aroma has chilipeppers, hops and some malts. First taste is hoppy and fruity, 3 seconds later its burning habanero. Quite nice.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 10, 2016 355 ml bottle. Almost clear golden body with a nice off-white head. Aroma has light malt, some caramel and green pepper with citric fruit in the background. Flavor is light malt and caramel with some citric and pepper, after a little while the hot habanero kicks in make the whole thing a bit unbalanced. Balanced in body and mostly hot & spicy in aftertaste. Not fantastic, more like a novelty but still pretty nice somehow.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rating #1552 - 20.03.2015 - Birthday Brew Tour Stop #2 - On tap at Ballast Point. Pours a hazy golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma is first and foremost habanero. Flavour is extremely warm, with loads of habanero pepper. Notes of grapefruit, lime permeate, and there is a tremendous sweetness that complements the heat, for those that aren’t weak of heart or mind. I may take some heat here, but this is way better than grapefruit, and would rank it higher than Sculpin. BOOM!

bottle. Pours a golden color with a foamy cream-colored head. Lively carbonation. Aroma is mostly citrusy with some spiciness. Somewhat hoppy and bitter but overwhelmingly spicy. I enjoy the heat, but someone who doesn’t is going to hate this. Different.
