COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

Growler - nose is lemon zest, grapefruit, habanero pepper, caramel and cat pee along with apricot. Heat is upfront and sticks around. This is a good heat. That heat dominates the flavors. Some bitterness shines through. Some booziness to this. Watery.

Delicious spicy beer. I love spicy food and jump at the opportunity to try hot pepper beers. Usually they disappoint but Sculpin was perfect. Aroma was mostly grapefruit, orange and just a hint of fresh picked peppers. Pour was a nice medium gold with a one finger white head. Taste was as good as the regular Sculpin. Big hop flavors on the front with all the citrus fruit and almost oniony. The big surprise comes right after the swallow. A big bellowing habanero heat on the cheeks and throat. Fantastic example of how spicy a beer can be. Nice carbonation as well.

Halvljus och rätt klar. Vanlig scalpin i början, sedan kommer chilistyrkan. Lite för mycket, tar över helt ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Mostly get that west coast tropical hops on the nose with a hint of the pepper. In the taste up front you get the Sculpin but the back end into the throat and aftertaste habanero heat. The heat certainly makes you slow it down. Wife really liked this one.

This is an extremely hard beer to rate. Iíve basically never seen a less "balanced" beer -- this one is completely and entirely dominated by the habanero. And thatís where the difficulty comes in. If you like hot, spicy beers, this one will really deliver. I personally found that it was delicious and well-made, but close to undrinkable from how hot it was. This is definitely a great beer, but six months later Iíve still got two more sitting in my fridge because Iím too scared to drink them!

Bottle at home, brought by Steve, thanks alot! Very fruity, burns slightly, light bitter, very nice to the style, but I donít like hotness in my beers.

All of the great ratings of the standard offering which I love. Rich aroma and flavor are not hampered at all by the heat. The habs bring serious and intriguing and pleasant / well short of unfun heat, detract zero from the base flavors. No such thing here as addition by subtraction, this is pure addition to one heck of a great beer with a wonderful in beer pairing with spicey. Sure, if you donít like the heat, not an enhanced beer; at the same time donít buy any more (leave it for the rest of us) and get out of the kitchen.

12oz bottle. Bottled 12/11/15. Appearance: Clear dark golden with a fluffy white head and decent lacing. Aroma: Like the original Sculpin, dominant hop aroma of tropical fruit, peaches, and mango. No apparent maltiness of sense of pepper. Taste: Starts with a soft malt sweetness, and then, holy hell one sharp bite of capsaicin heat! Kinda overpowers the rest of the flavor profile from there, and is compounded by the sharp bitterness: Mouthfeel: If I could feel my tongue...Medium body with a moderate bitterness. Finish: Strong capsaicin heat lingers long after the finish and seems to intensify. Only a hint of fruity and grassy hop bitterness is perceptible. Overall: The look and aroma of this beer are true to what Sculpin is, then then habanero hits the tongue and itís game over. The good news is that this beer is exactly what I thought a habanero sculpin would be, itís a well made beer. But thatís also the flaw in my opinion. The sharp heat eventually overpowers and after a few drinks I find myself not wanting to take another. The spicing becomes cloying.

Very interesting brew, Sculpin with Habanero chili. Iím a kimchi eating Korean and this was pretty spicy for me :) Lots of grapefruits, citrus, habanero, spicy aroma. Pretty much same with the original Sculpin, but when you drink a sip, and then the beer goes down through your throat, you start feeling the spiciness. Wouldnít try another time-because the original one is a great alternative- but still worth a try!

Some of the goodness of sculpin. Not really much any hops. Well what hops are there are just mix so well with the peppers. Love the heat. The heat is exactly what you want if you got a íhabeneroí brew.
