Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

Tap. This is a novelty beer for me. It seems like a waste of sculpin because it has you focusing on the habanero and you lose the hops flavors. The spiciness it leaves behind in your mouth just seems wrong for a beer. Glad I tried a 4 oz sample. No need to do it again.

Aroma of peaches and tropical fruit. The taste, though, is where this beer brings the heat. Itís like a craft beer Cesear! Some pine and citrus in the background but itís mostly hot pepper and lots of it.

Great base beer with clean malt and bright aromatic hops. Habanero was raw and grassy, with moderate heat and no fruity or floral character.

Damn they have upped the Habanero on this batch. Lip tingling good on top of a very solid IPA. Great, Great stuff and hugely fun. Fuck yeah.

Bottle: pours golden amber with a thin white head, hoppy aroma, taste is very, very spicy. It overpowers everything else. Itís not a bad beer, but not one I can drink much of.

Bottle enjoyed at home
Copper hazy, big creamy beige head. Smell of grapefruit, citrus, pine and malts. Moderate sweet, some fruityness and citrus before the habanero kicks in and take over the show. Wow! After this everything is mostly habanero chili.......... and some biting piny stuff in the back. I like it!

Aroma: citrus, fruity and a bit chili. Taste is more like chili. Taste has a little bit heat(could be more) and fruity. Awesome habanero IPA!

Picked up single 12-oz bottle from Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, MN. Pours a semi-clear golden orange colored brew with a smalled sized off-white head compared to the regular Sculpin that quickly dissipates. Aroma of light grapefruit, habanero peppers and caramel malt. Taste is medium bodied with habanero pepper presence that over-powers the IPA hoppiness. Finish is semi-dry with a spicy pepper palate that would make an interesting BBQ marinade. Tongue shock recovery time, about 3 minutes.

12 oz bottle. Clear golden Amber color with a light white head. Tropical fruit resin hops aroma. Big Habanero bite. Medium body. Habanero runs the show. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle. Pours golden with a fine particle haze and a white head. Chili heat in the aroma, followed by a mix of green pepper and some citrusy hops. A lot of heat in here, with some bell pepper and black pepper flavor, not leaving much room for the IPA base. I think I still get a suggestion of the IPA somewhere in there, though. Regardless, itís quite the tasty chili beer.
