4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tap at Ballast Point. The beer pours to a dark amber glowing golden body with a white head. The aroma is simply 100% Sculpin with no peppers. The flavor is Sculpin, but it showcases the delicious flavor of the habanero pepper. I thought it had some heat, but not in that way that most of the spicy beers are (green peppers and hot). This beer was a marvelous rendition in that the pepper component came through as expected, rather than a nasty green pepper with heat. It actually blended quite well, and was a highlight of the evening!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear copper/gold with big off white head. Citrus hop aroma with hint of the Habanero to come. Sweet malt backbone with a citrus hop balance. Habanero: sharp spicy bite, lingering green pepper in the finish. I enjoyed this beer (thanks dlovell2 for sharing), not sure if I’d want to go through a whole 6-pack though, I think a draft at a restaurant that serves fried food or a single bottle where they allow mixed-6 packs would be the way to go. Not really a "regular" brew or a session beer.

1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Smells like fresh armpit sweat. Flavor has no hints of citrus, apricot, or pine that I like in IPAs. The afterburn is unique (it’s actually spicy hot) and the only thing I really like about this beer. Yuck. But at least it’s kind of interesting.

Tap. Golden with small head. Doesn’t seem that hot with the first sip, but the heat builds. Pepper beers aren’t my thing, but I can appreciate that this is well done.

Nice heat...a potent burn that doesn’t stick around too long. The beer is crisp with a vegetal finish after the heat. Not my favorite Sculpin, but then spicy beers aren’t my thing just yet.

355 ml bottle @ Timo A. Thanks rosenbergh!
Pours clear golden color with a small head. Some grassy notes on the nose, hops, resin and citric fruits. The habanero kicks in right from the bat on the flavor, some resinous hops and caramel, orange and mild grapefruits, lingering and slightly burning habanero on the aftertaste. Very nice palate wrecker.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle pour avg gold with light orange hue. Nose innocent enough, some mango and tropical fruit hop, with a light green chili undertone. Taste comes out swinging, green pepper chilis followed by heat. Briefly some hop flavors from the nose, but then the heat continues through the finish. Some late sweet malt, but mostly light burn.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Well it tastes spicy. Not really habanero as there is no discernable citrusy pepper flavor, and this stuff is extremely sweet behind the moderate bitterness.. Just a mess and not enjoyable to drink. Craft beer has really shit itself.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle. The aroma is just like the base sculpin with juicy grapefruit, mild pine and peach. Pale malts, nicely juicy.
The flavor starts like the base brew and for me it still was kind of mild pepper tones for the first 3 oz. the heat then really stacked up and got overbearing. Dry texture with lingering heat. I have NEVER been a fan of pepper in my beer but it maybe ok for someone who really enjoys hot stuff.

4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 17/20
Strong grapefruit and tangerine nose, with a subtle pepper presence. Hazy amber, medium yellow head. Grapefruit, lemon, and a lot of pepper. Pine finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation, hot. Not quaffable, but a fantastic sipper.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear orange pour with a nice lasting white head and good lacing. Aroma is habanero, citrus, and caramel. Taste is earthy peppers and citrus rind. There is a hint of malt sweetness. It is hot and the burn lingers for a long time. Would not recommend to anyone who doesn’t enjoy spicy stuff. Also, not a beer I will drink a lot of but I appreciate it for what it is and habanero is a nice pepper to go with Sculpin.
