4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tap at Ballast Point. The beer pours to a dark amber glowing golden body with a white head. The aroma is simply 100% Sculpin with no peppers. The flavor is Sculpin, but it showcases the delicious flavor of the habanero pepper. I thought it had some heat, but not in that way that most of the spicy beers are (green peppers and hot). This beer was a marvelous rendition in that the pepper component came through as expected, rather than a nasty green pepper with heat. It actually blended quite well, and was a highlight of the evening!

Draft pour. Aroma of hops and spice. Has a good hoppy flavor that is overwhelmed with spice. I like it, but can see how it would turn someone away. Not the most drinkable beer out there, but good overall.

Smokes coming out of my ears but I’m not complaining. My wife’s new favorite beer and I wish I could find it for her again. Hop profile of sculpin but with some intense habanero heat. I’d like to say I’m not a wuss but I’d have trouble with a full 12 oz and it gave me heart burn almost immediately.

[5245-20130420] Tap. Super orange aroma. Clear, orange body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Bitter orange rind hops flavour. Medium-full body is super bitter. Tasty. (7+/3/8/4/16) 3.8

Aroma is citrus and spice. Flavor is overwhelming with spiciness a little over the top and takes away from hops. Not my cup of tea.

Draft at DoG Street Pub. Lovely aroma of fresh fruits and sweet malt. Light caramel in the background as well. Taste is fruity for a few moments and slightly sweet then goes directly to peppery Habanero heat. It kind of dominates at this point. Not much else going on. Body is medium with a moderate bubbly carbonation and LOTS of lingering heat from the peppers. Ends with more peppery spices with touches of caramel, malt and fresh fruit notes. Habanero is a touch one-sided on the palate.

From memory. On draft. After a few swirls and a few sips, it was very clear this was a hot pepper infused beer. Can't say I got much more then simply spicy peppers on the nose and palate. Spicy capsicum heat lingers on the palate for minutes. Best enjoyed with food.. Chips, tacos, burritos, etc.. Glad I got to experience this.. I would only order this again with the above mention foods. Worth trying.

Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Orange hued golden, thin to moderate foamy white head, decent lacing.   Noticeable heat on the nose.   Soft hop otherwise.   I am a bit concerned given the heat coming off of this one.   On the tongue its like being hit by a truck.   Very strong Habanero, too strong if you ask me.   Overshadows everything else in this beer.   Too hot, too spicy, and too much.   Seems like they ruined already fantastic Sculpin.   Damnit!

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle share at Hampton Inn pre-DLD party. Pour is hazy orange with a medium white head. Aroma is of pine needles, resin, citrus, and crackers. The habanero comes through in the flavor - caramel, citrus, spice, peppers, bitterness. The heat lingers, but isn’t too strong while tasting.

On tap, golden pour, white foam, pretty soft and plain until the heat kicks in, not as hot as ghost but has a bite, hot lasting finish

Great brew...sculpin alone is fantastic...add the extra dimension of the habanero is superb. Great pepper and hop aroma flavor through and through. Excellent
