COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

Tap at Ballast Point. The beer pours to a dark amber glowing golden body with a white head. The aroma is simply 100% Sculpin with no peppers. The flavor is Sculpin, but it showcases the delicious flavor of the habanero pepper. I thought it had some heat, but not in that way that most of the spicy beers are (green peppers and hot). This beer was a marvelous rendition in that the pepper component came through as expected, rather than a nasty green pepper with heat. It actually blended quite well, and was a highlight of the evening!

Taster at the brewery. Golden color with white head. Amazing tropical-and-grapefruit hoppy nose, like the regular Sculpin, not much of the chilis there yet. Taste gives a immediate Habanero sting, then fruity, then a clean bitterness. Really hot. A masterpiece in terms of how the things work out, the habanero hits you only in the taste. I love it, but beware: I like very hot and spicy things, although I usually donít adore chili beers.

Amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is grapefruit hops with just a hint of fruity spice. Flavor is very similar to the regular Sculpin with just a bit of heat at the end. Habanero spice builds depending on how fast you drink it, I feel it more in my throat than on my tongue. However, if you eat it with spicy food, the effect is multiplied. Wife: 3.5

12oz bottle pours a clear orange/copper with a medium khaki head. Aroma of fruity citrus hops, bready malt. Taste hits with a full on assult of Habanero, flavor and heat wise. No way I can drink more than a sip. Ok, so I tried another way. Full can of grapefruit and half of habanero. Grapefruit prominent, but mellow, less artificial and soda like. Hops and malt coming through. Habanero present with a slight burn on the lips, way toned down. Meh, better than the hab not as good as GF.

Look - Light orange see through body. Thin, white to tan head with moderate pour. Smell - Donít notice peppers here. Grapefruit and citrus. Dank. Taste - Strong pepper up front and fades slowly. Has a plastic taste as well. Palate - Dries up quickly with pepper. Lighter bodied. Overall - Smell was surprising. I donít know where the faint plastic smell comes from. Heat from a beer you expect heat.

Pours a light tan with a creamy head. Aroma of peppers and hops. The habenero adds an interesting organic flavor. The burn starts a few seconds in and takes a few minutes to go away. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle poured a clear tarnished gold with a small lasting off white head. Aromas of straw, habanero, grapefruit and light pine. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry warming finish. Flavors of bread, grapefruit, habanero and light earthiness with a smooth dry warming finish.

Mycket konstig känsla, men ändå angenäm. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Brewdog online. Misty golden amber with slim white head. Citrus hops, pine, sweet malts in the aroma. Whoa thatís interesting, tastes like a nice high quality IPA then the habanero kicks in at the end. Certainly the best chilli beer Iíve had. I would prefer it without the added heat however.

From tap@mikkellersthlm Green chili, herbs, roasty, caramel, golden, hazy, minimal head, light sweetness, lightly bitter, medium body, sticky, chili in the finish. Nice chili taste but more body is needed. Not balanced
