Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

bottle. clear orange with a small white head. nice floral aroma and no sign of pepper. flavor has big kick of peppery heat, green pepper meat, floral hops, a little malty sweetness. medium body. heat gets less intense 1/4way through the pint. wouldnít really want to drink more than 1 of these, but it was fun to try it.

fruity tomato like habanero on nose alongside mango. mango pithy bitterness at first with growing chili heat, great IPA but the habanero really a novelty. pairs well with bbq meat tho

Bottle (12 oz). Slightly hazy golden/orange with a small white head and little lacing. Aroma is of caramel, citrusy notes and spices/habanero. Taste is very hot and the habanero takes all the place along light caramel and hints of citrus. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Very hot finish. Ever lasting burning aftertaste. Complete lack of balance. Way too hot. Probably one of the mot burning beers Iíve tried so far. Bad.

Draft pour into a pint glass. The beer is a clear copper color with a white head of foam. The aroma is fruity sweet and just a mild habanero pepper influence. The more I drink, the more heat I encounter, so it really builds up, but it starts more sweet. Lip tingling heat. Some stomach heat as well. Medium body and medium carbonation.

Draft at friendly Greek. Pours golden with an inch of white foam. Has some citrus on the nose. Big fucking habanero on the tongue. Huge. Real, real spicy. Lingers for hours. It is an acquired taste but itís actually some flavor even as it melts your tongue.

12oz bottle. Looking at reviews, this is a polarizing beer. Iím a huge pepper/heat fan, so not surprisingly I fall on the positive side. The other side consists of wimps. If youíre a pansy who canít take the slightest bit of heat, just donít drink a habanero beer! The appearance is average, orangish-golden with a fast-fading one-finger head. The aroma has grapefruit and tropical fruit notes with a hint of habanero. The flavor has great heat! Iím glad they didnít hold anything back. It matches well with a slightly sweet malt base and bright fruity hoppiness. The palate is really nice. Medium-bodied and crisp with a burning sensation. This is freaking badass! I love it and would drink it all day. Wimps need not apply.

On tap @ Rattle N Hum courtesy of infi. Thanks Jonathan!. Itís a really cloudy looking one this, almost murky brown in the glass with a small off-white head on top. It has a nice fresh grassy herbal tea-like nose with traces of chocolate paper and dark malts. A bit strange but nice. In the mouth itís light oily with a soft carbonation level. I get some soft prickling hints of the habanero, but its nowhere as warming as I was expecting. Some more chocolate paper also appears. Tea like finish. A good one, but I was really hoping for a bit more punch. 14.06.2013

Draught @ BrewDog Gbg. Pours clear golden with a rather small frothy offwhite head that leaves some thick trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is tiny malty, fruity and spicy with caramel, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, red chilli, moist grass, pine needles and lemon zest. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, slightly fruity and heavy spicy. Mouthfeel is astringent, spicy hot and medium bodied. Finish is bitter with crackers, caramel, grapefruit, red habanero, moist grass, pine needles and lemon zest. I like habanero but this is pretty much carpet bombing of the base beer. All that remains is the habanero and weíre not talking the aromatic and fruity orange kind but the pretty much just hot red supermarket kind.
