3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle from craftshack dot com. aroma is just like fresh and yummy sculpin. lots of pine and grapefruit. large white head and a very clear light orange color. initial taste is hops followed quickly by a punch in my esophagus of hot peppers. holy hell this is interesting. just a bit of a sting is an understatement. this bad mamma jamma has more punch than a bomb or most pepper beers I have had. still a very solid offering, but not more than one could be consumed by this wussy

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 4, 2013 Draft sample poured a golden color with a thin coat of off white head. Aroma has big citrus, pine resins, and a huge hit of habanero. Mouth feel is medium and the carbonation average. Flavor again has a huge hit of habanero spice, citrus, juicy tropical hops, and a finish with heat that just lingers. Whoa this has a bit of heat to it so much so it is hard to take in the hops.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft sample. Gold in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of sharp citrus juices, light malt, and a dusting of pepper. An interesting flavor progression: grapefruit and lime, followed by incendiary (yet very clear) Habanero, then a mix of leafy hops and pepper heat on the finish. The heat is a little much, but you still get a sense of the beer behind it. A half pint serving would have been ideal, but managed to finish a whole pint with little difficulty. I tried to search out the base beer, but came up empty on this trip.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear yellow golden in color... Aroma of crisp citrus hops... Flavor is dominated by spicy habanero, spicy kick initially on the palate, gives way to lingering heat, but does not mask the crisp dryness and bitterness of the sculpin.... Nice combo

1.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Pours golden with low off-white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is of peppers, slight malt. Taste is of peppers, hot (extreme) peppers, very slight malt. Palate: Medium carbonation. Medium body [Note that I had a very hard time rating the palate as I could barely dare to take other sips]. Overall: This beer is straight-up gross. Extremely hot/peppery. This is not serious. Burning aftertaste. No complexity to speak of. Stear clear of this one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to Butler at his house. Pours yellowish gold with no head. Aroma is fruity with pineapple. Some pepper on the nose. Flavor is entirely habanero with slight bitterness. Fair amount of heat in the back of the throat. Really interesting. Finishes clean and dry.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Jerry’s. Dark gold with big, foamy, white head, good lacing / Bright nose of citrus, weed, cut pine, honey / Medium body, crisp, excellent balance with bitter finish, and very spicy / Flavors of honey, grapefruit, cut pine, resin, very hot but not much of a vegetal flavor / Very nice, with quite a spice kick.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Eureka University Village.
Gold pour, thin white head. Sculpin aroma, grapefruit and some tropicals, a hint of the pepper to come. The heat on the tongue melds very nicely with the underlying flavor base -- they complement one another well -- but hits harder than I like in a hot-pepper beer. In the style, I like the heat to be almost subtle -- whereas this one is strong and draws the attention to the lingual burning and away from the topical fruit in the base beer that seems just waiting to delight to taste buds. After trying this, I opt to switch to the regular sculpin, which is far more drinkable --- but leaves me missing the heat just a little bit, which speaks well of this one I suppose.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Really enjoyed this. Aroma was lightly green, some roasted peppers, definitely heat, some habanero and the underlying sculpin we all know, some juicy citrus tropical hops. Flavor is much the same, really well done, some sweet heat, not overpowering at all.
