Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

On tap @ Aces & Ales in Vegas, and had alongside Joseph James Habanero Hop Box IPA. They were more similar than I would have guessed, but in the end I felt the Sculpin to be the better pepper IPA. The hops shone through a little brighter, with more balance between the underlying IPA character and the pepper character. Similar heat quotient though. SPICY!

Tap. Citrus and tropical fruit on the nose. Take a sip and the habaneros kick in. Lots of heat! Interesting, albeit fewer habaneros would do good as they are a bit overpowering.

Bottle at Queens Head. Stinging chili aroma with some floral hops underneath. The taste is heavily habanero with some grapefruit, pineapple and pine. Really spicy, but quite balanced actually.

Wow, this is hot! Aroma is a nice citrus with a hint of spice. The heat and hops hit you right in the face. Burning hot finish, over the top.

(Keg at One Pint Pub, 20151002) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, sweetness, pine, bell peppers and malts. Palate was medium bodied and burning with medium carbonation. Flavours were bell peppers, sweetness, fruitiness, malts, pine and bitterness. Aftertaste had chilli, sweetness and bitterness. A very burning brew but not really a bad one. Drinkability was not good.

Uma cerveja equilibrada! Boa carbonatação, aroma bem evidenciado da pimenta! É um sabor único e apimentado! Bem apimentado! Muito boa como todas sculpins!!

The aroma smells sweet, downplays the heat for sure. First sip I held it in to get a good taste and you could feel the burn building, quickly none the less. It is a good burn. A good, spicy taste. But after swallowing the burn burns. For me. A little too hot when passing down the throat. For sure need to be a fan of heat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Clear gold, low head. Nose of habanero, plus some citrus and light malt and a bit of tropical, but the peppers dominate. Flavor is repugnant spicy, firey chili peppers that have no business in an IPA. This is crap, and a terrible idea.

Pours in a amber color woth a light white head. Aroma of habanero with tones of citrus and fruity hop. Flavour; Loads of Habanero, some citrus, malt loads of habanero in the aftertaste. A funny and odd beer for sure..

A: Orange with a nice 3 finger head, disappears fast though. N: Grapefruit, chili T: Starts off with a nice grapefruit flavour and then the habanero kicks in! LOADS of habanero! Hard to get anything else. O: It is nice, but it's really hardcore with the habanero. I like it, but it would've been nice with a little less of the heat.

Bottle from Stone in Asagaya. Pours a clear gold with a small white head. Aromas of passion fruit, mango and citrus with some light pepper. Starts out with some nice tropical fruit at the beginning, but then comes the rush of habanero pepper. There is some grapefruit in there as well but a long peppery finish that kills all the flavor in the original. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
