4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ Aces & Ales in Vegas, and had alongside Joseph James Habanero Hop Box IPA. They were more similar than I would have guessed, but in the end I felt the Sculpin to be the better pepper IPA. The hops shone through a little brighter, with more balance between the underlying IPA character and the pepper character. Similar heat quotient though. SPICY!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a golden amber color with a white head. Hop, habanero, citrus, floral and malt aroma. Big habanero pepper, some citrus, floral and malt flavors. Rather hot. Good but spice completely masks the taste of the beer. Spicy lingering finish.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours deep orange with a medium white head. Smells peppery a citrus undertone. Taste is lots of pepper heat, hints of bitterness, a touch of citrus. Medium-bodied with a wet texture and average mouth-carbonation, Ballast Point Habanero Sculpin finishes with a tangy, lingering heat.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Nice citrus hop aroma. Appearance is gold with white head with below average head for an ipa. The beer has a nice citrus hop flavor. The heat is intense and makes this a sipping beer. Mouthfeel is medium with medium carbonation. Overall, I wouldn't buy it again. I like hot food but this beer is too hot to enjoy. If they cut the heat in half Id really like it though.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pretty good...well real good. A little too spicy for me but yet I can appreciate the craft on this. Fresh habanero flavor, with the great sculpin hop flavor and aroma.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted on 1/2/14 from a capped 12oz bottle. Big thanks to Chuck for the hookup. Pours clear, lightly muted orange with an average white head that slowly recedes to average lace, leaving some residue along the inside of the glass. The nose is fresh grapefruit and lightly fruity hops with just a light touch of bread malt, but all of that is quickly covered up by the amazingly spicy aroma of super spicy habaŮero. The flavor is tremendously spicy, really dominating, but there is a good IPA hiding underneath all of it, just not sure it is worth trying to find with this much super long lasting heat. The body is medium with average carbonation and the longest spicy finish of all time. I can understand how some people like this, but it is not for me.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured on tap, my wife hates spicey foods but really enjoys pepper beers, this one was a little too much for her though, pours a clear dark copper red with a light white head and lacing, the aroma has quite a bit of spice and pepper on the nose backed with a good amount of citrus too, the first drink is hot, it hits you right away but the citrus and tropical fruit seem to numb it after you finish it. The more I drank it the more mellow it seemed to get, I enjoyed this.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. This one has a lot of heat. Initially tried pairing it with some spicy sushi and between this and the wasabi, it was too much. Habenero flavor all over it. Has the hop and malt you would expect from sculpin, with a ton of heat. The heat becomes a little too overbearing, unlike some of the spicy stouts, there isnít any sweetness to balance it out, and maybe that made it seem hotter than it is. Other than the joke that was stone crime, this might be the spiciest beer Iíve had.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
First sip was dreadful and I considered pouring it out. But the GF and I started to take a liking to it. Very spicy, only one other beer Iíve had that was more hot. This was a sipper and I certainly donít think someone could have more then one per session.

Bottle shared. Pours a transparent amber with a ring of off white head. Atoms and taste of hops and heat. Very nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Location/Date:Bottle in December 2014.
Appearance: Pours an orange cloud.
Aroma: Aroma of habanero spice.
Taste: Habanero really at the front, a "heavy" spice. Medium light bitterness.
Palate:Medium light body, lingering aftertaste.
Summary: I love spicy food - maybe I just donít love spicy beer. I can enjoy a bit of this but then donít want an entire bottle.
