3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 11, 2016 On tap @ Aces & Ales in Vegas, and had alongside Joseph James Habanero Hop Box IPA. They were more similar than I would have guessed, but in the end I felt the Sculpin to be the better pepper IPA. The hops shone through a little brighter, with more balance between the underlying IPA character and the pepper character. Similar heat quotient though. SPICY!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
4 oz. taster at BP (Little Italy). Slight chili in the aroma but the taste is all habanero where you can barely taste the hops. Super interesting -- I wouldn’t (couldn’t) drink more than 4 oz. but it was fun to try given my love for all things spicy. A great pairing with the fish tacos.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden orange with floaties and a big frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is subdued - bready malts, piney hops and a quite a bit of chili pepper.
The flavor is bready malts and some fruit that is quickly overwhelmed by a ton of heat from the pepper. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, nice spice heat, but that overwhelms the base beer. Good chili beer, not much IPA.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: MAY 2, 2016 Alaranjada de pouca turbidez, espuma depouca formação e média persistência.

3.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance: clear golden color, minimal white head.
Aroma: habanero its so intense.
Taste: bitterness with a good amount of habanero capsicum!
Texture: medium body, hot texture, average carbonation.
Overall: My favorite hotbeer, too bad its not a indiebrewer any more.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle picked up at the COOP, but it is at all the bottleshops and most grocery stores now... Pours clear orange with a nice enough white head.. Traditional CCC hoppiness with a fruity chili flavor and aroma... But the heat builds and becomes unpleasant for my palate.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
When I pop the cap the escaping CO2 brings a spicy hit of capsaicin to my nose. A steady pour into my Spiegelau IPA glass produces an almost two-finger thick, pale tan colored head that leaves some layered lacing on the sides of my glass. The beer is a pale amber / gold color and shows a clear, yellow golden hue when held up to the light. Up front the beer has a big hit of floral herbal notes, ripe ruby-red grapefruit, ample guava, funky ripe mango, and even some Sauvignon Blanc like tropical fruit character. If you really, deeply dig into the aroma it gets even more of the ripe, tropical fruit character, and there is also just a hint of spicy, fruity, habanero character.
Smooth, herbal bitter notes up front linger through to the finish where a defined, spicy, chile kick takes over; this tickles the back of my throat, and supplies some nice spicy heat. The chile character seems to accentuate the grassy & herbal notes in the hopes, and this seems more evenly balanced with the ripe fruit character of a normal Sculpin; lychee, guava, kumquat zest, tangelo zest, and some ruby-red grapefruit notes are balanced by flavors of pine, bitter-woody sage sap, and dank herbal notes that adds an earthy-herbal spiciness. The malt character plays a clearly supporting role here, but does provide a rounded body that helps provide a nice texture to support the hops, as well as a hint of whole grain cracker like maltiness.
This is pretty tasty, though I think I prefer the regular and grapefruit versions of this beer more.

They aren’t kidding about the habanero. A pepper beer for pepper beer lovers. Not really me. Surprising bitterness but this beer is defined by the pepperiness. Wish I had had someone to share this with, since the last third was rough.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Damned if you do and damned if you don’t, this habanero IPA blisters at the end, but it has a peppery, pepper fruit profile that precedes the burn... every time. Really good mixed with pineapple and grapefruit sculpin to balance the heat and citrus...

Poured from a single bottle, the smell is of sculpin and very unassuming and just when you start to taste all the IPA qualities this blast of habenero hits me burning into my ears, I enjoyed it, didn’t drink any water and saved 5oz. for the chili I’m making.
