COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

On tap @ Aces & Ales in Vegas, and had alongside Joseph James Habanero Hop Box IPA. They were more similar than I would have guessed, but in the end I felt the Sculpin to be the better pepper IPA. The hops shone through a little brighter, with more balance between the underlying IPA character and the pepper character. Similar heat quotient though. SPICY!

Bottle thanks to Butler at his house. Pours yellowish gold with no head. Aroma is fruity with pineapple. Some pepper on the nose. Flavor is entirely habanero with slight bitterness. Fair amount of heat in the back of the throat. Really interesting. Finishes clean and dry. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Taster... Clear amber orange... Classic sculpin base with Habanero heat!!! Very flavorful, but not a thirst quencher... Better for mixing a Bloody Mary or cooking chili... Excellent !!!

SWBF 2014. Pours peach with a lacy white head. Aromas of peach, honey, grapefruit, kiwi with some hints of a peppery tone. Quite similar to ordinary Sculpin. Tasting it also very much reminds of the usual Sculpin characteristics: fantastic tropical fruit tones - mango, peach, paricot, grapefruit - and that nice malty base to it. After swallowing it though - wow! What a kick! Quite fiery and burns not a little bit. Not too much though. Very well balanced and I quite like that habanero kick!

Sample at SBWF 2014. Hazy light amber with a white head. A lot of hot chili both in the aroma and taste. Also some light notes of citrus and malt. Too much Habanero for my taste.

Draft at Ballast Point. Pours a bright orange. Nose has grapefruit, citrus, chilli and pepper. Taste is upfront chilli and peppers with a citrus/grapefruit backing. Slow burn from the chilli. Great showcase with of the habanero chillis. Brings out so much of the flavour. Top shelf. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg at SBWF. Hazy golden, small head. Chili aroma with some citrus. Dryish with medium body and clean rounded mouthfeel. As expected habanero takes over. Chili burn dominate the finish.

Tap @ bishops arms, gamla stan, Stockholm. Amber color, lasting white head. Peppers in aroma, grapefruity notes. Flavor has chili alright, burning. Tropical fruity but stays in the back as the chili overrides totally. Lasting burning sensation. Pleasant but in small doses.

Tap@bishops, gamla stan. Copper clear. Fruity pines, caramels on nose. Not that much bell pepper/chili just yet. Med bodied, nice soft bitter caramelly, and a good capsasin kick. Smooth nice, and for once, a well spiced chili beer. Habanero pretty clearly present in the flavour (sort of murky bell peppery, black pepper) as well. Ipa for chiliheads. I would venture this has a scoville of tabasco, so some tolerance is required for proper enjoyment.

Bottle pour. Pours golden with small white head. Aromas of a Hawaiian barbecue consisting of tropical fruits and roast pork from luau. Flavors are spicy, hot pepper and gentle grapefruit. A tad over the top with the heat. Finishes dry with lots of heat. Makes you sweat. Very unique.
