Bottle share at Hampton Inn pre-DLD party. Pour is hazy orange with a medium white head. Aroma is of pine needles, resin, citrus, and crackers. The habanero comes through in the flavor - caramel, citrus, spice, peppers, bitterness. The heat lingers, but isn’t too strong while tasting.

On tap. Pours with a hazed golden body and a white head. A good bit of diacetyl in the aroma, butterscotch. Light hops, some pepper, grainy. Flavors of diacetyl, some heat and burn and really minimal tropical fruit hoppiness. People who have had this before told me it tasted better previously.

Cask at GBBG, Day 1. This was an incredibly divisive beer. Pours clear gold with a bubbly, white head. Big hop nose with definite notes of habanero. Flavor is just WAY too hot with raw habanero peppers. I can’t really detect much else in the flavor as MY TONGUE IS ON FIRE. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Burns like hell on the finish without stopping. Minutes pass and yet the burn lingers. Can’t really tell if hops are there, but I’m inclined to say they’ve been burned off. I could barely finish a third of a pint of this. When I did finish, I was sweating profusely and I considered leaving the festival to visit a hospital. Definitely too hot overall.

Aroma is floral hops and citrus, nice
Taste is all hot peppers

On tap at Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours dark golden with a nice beige head and a pepper aroma. There is the expected full-bodied Sculpin malt flavor that is heavily masked with hot pepper. I guess some people like hot peppers in their beer, but for me it just cancels out the beer’s original good flavor. To each his own.

4oz sample at Max’s Hop Fest 2013. Pours a clear orange, one ring of white head. Smells like pineapple salsa, spicy. Flavor is just like salsa, orange, bell pepper, black and pink peppercorns, hibiscus, mango. Super hot finish. Lots of heat.

On tap, golden pour, white foam, pretty soft and plain until the heat kicks in, not as hot as ghost but has a bite, hot lasting finish

Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Orange hued golden, thin to moderate foamy white head, decent lacing.   Noticeable heat on the nose.   Soft hop otherwise.   I am a bit concerned given the heat coming off of this one.   On the tongue its like being hit by a truck.   Very strong Habanero, too strong if you ask me.   Overshadows everything else in this beer.   Too hot, too spicy, and too much.   Seems like they ruined already fantastic Sculpin.   Damnit!

Cask@GBBF2011. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, sweet malty with a bunch of peppery notes as well. Flavour is floral, fruity and has got an extreme burn to it in the finish and aftertaste. Utterly shite and unbalanced flavour.

On draft at Issacs Amber pour with a floral hoppy aroma.
Caramel malt taste with hop, pepper and curry. It finishes hot. Ehh.
