Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

Pours dark golden orange with a dark eggshell head. Aroma is grapefruit hops and underlying pepper notes. Taste is good and hoppy with grapefruit and orange then it goes into a mild spicy pepper taste, but the burn goes down and leaves a lingering burn in your belly that kicks up the heartburn. pretty good, glad i got try it.

Nice citrus aroma but mild. Cloudy orange with a foamy white head. Good balance on the IPA flavors and malt. Peppers leave a burning sensation on the back of the throat which is as pleasant as it is unusual. Nicely done.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle stamped SC443-14055. It pours a bronze, amber color with a modest little head that fades to a ring but never goes away. The nose has a nice caramel malt and bitter hop character. Medium body. At first there is a caramel malt character but it does snot take long for the floral hop character to take over. Nice bitter finish. Quite good.

12oz bottle thanks to my good friend Kasey! So this one looked pretty much like the sculpin that I remember but the nose.... wow what a huge burst of spicy peppers, some fruity pepper, and lots of heat. The flavor is super spicy and full of heat. Iíve never had a beet that had so much heat and pepper character as this one. Iím not sure a full bottle is what I want but I feel like they nailed what they were trying to accomplish here. Good.

This beer takes the always impressive sculpin and adds huge peppery spice on the finish. Quite phenomenally done as it doesnít detract from the original and never becomes too much. Great stuff

12oz bottle from Craftshack. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a small foamy white head. Aroma of sweet citrus, light on the habanero spice, lemon zest, and floral hops. Taste of grapefruit, lemon, pine, and a decent peppery habanero burn in the finish. Solid

12 oz. bottle given to me by a friend. Iím generally not a fan of chili beers, but this is excellent! The nose is nothing but citrus, and the taste is dry malt and more than enough heat to keep things interesting. Habanero Sculpin is pretty amazing - all of the qualities that make Sculpin a great beer and a blast of heat that adds to its overall flavor profile. While this is not something Iíd want to drink every day, Iím glad I got at least one opportunity to enjoy it.

Draft at Ballast Point. Pours a bright orange. Nose has grapefruit, citrus, chilli and pepper. Taste is upfront chilli and peppers with a citrus/grapefruit backing. Slow burn from the chilli. Great showcase with of the habanero chillis. Brings out so much of the flavour. Top shelf. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle, bottled on November 19, 2014. Served in a DFH IPA glass, the beer pours an amber/orange color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like habaneros, citrusy hops (grapefruit, mango, orange peel), and a bit of sweet malt. I think the taste is pretty much like the aroma, except that the habanero heat overpowers the other flavors. Thereís also a lingering spicy peppery finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís coating and has a good amount of carbonation. Itís not the hottest beer Iíve had, but itís certainly hotter than most chili pepper beers Iíve tried. If you like spicy chili beers, then you need to try some of this. I wonít have any problems finishing this 6-pack!

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2014 Growler fill from Vintage Cellar, Blacksburg VA. Pours amber, very slight haze, good head. Aroma is hoppy on the sweet, fruity side of the street. Taste is hoppy, but the habanero jumps in quickly, leaving a lingering heat on the aftertaste. I love spice, so Iím thoroughly impressed with the balance here .. the heat level is just perfect for the beer. My house hot sauce is Tabasco Habanero (regular Tabasco is too mild), so I like spicy heat and I love this beer. Iíll have to get another growler fill before the keg disappears. Got the second growler and drank it with a brewer friend. The heat seems to get milder as you drink a couple of pints of this stuff. By the third pint, I barely noticed it was hot. Still impressed, I am.
