COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

On tap at city beer store. Golden orange color, decent foam, great lacing. Nose has some hint of regular sculpin but it really is dominated by habanero. Great habanero smell. Flavor is the same. I very much like the pepper in here but it is hard to get the ipa. It is there but under the surface. Cool beer, not an everyday drinker.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2013 Pours gold with white head and some lacing. Aroma of peppers and pine hops. Taste is unique. The immediate taste is like the normal sculpin, but then it heads up really quick. Tasty with a kick that left my lips a little numb.

Tap sample. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that lasted with good lacing. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy sour citrus hoppy and roasted pepper aroma. Moderate to heavy bittersweet and hot flavor with a moderate to heavy hot and bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid brew.

On tap at Brouwerís Cafe, pours a hazy golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma brings out loads of habanero peppers, maybe some slight hoppy notes lingering. Flavour is extremely spicy, with loads of habanero pepper without destroying the palate. The hops are still somewhat present, but the peppers dominate. Really well done - quite the punch in the mouth without being absurdly overwhelming.

Draft at Dutchís. Pours a clear golden color with a medium plus sized white head. The aroma and flavor have quite a bit of peppery heat, citrus and tropical fruit hops try to come through. I get that this is a polarizing kind of beer, but I happen to enjoy the peppery beers. The burn is lasting, but the fruity notes linger as well.

14 oz pour at bier thirty. Poured liked a typical ipa with a thin white head. My nose canít smell much but that might be my fault. First sip and the habanero explodes in your mouth. Salty and hot. Iím good for one glass and no more.

[5245-20130420] Tap. Super orange aroma. Clear, orange body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Bitter orange rind hops flavour. Medium-full body is super bitter. Tasty. (7+/3/8/4/16) 3.8

The great taste of Sculpin with a healthy dose of hot habanero. I personally enjoy these pepper beers and this one is one of the best Iíve ever had. If you see it on tap give it a try!

Tap sample at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 4/3/14. Clear orange pour with a medium white head. Aroma of orange, pine, grapefruit and slight chile pepper. Malty and piney flavor with pepper and citrus before a warm pepper finish.

On draft. Aroma is slightly odd, as if itís an IPA with something different, but suggests nothing in particular. The taste starts big IPA, but before it can overpower you with hop goodness the peppers cut through a bit. Then they really linger on the palate, providing a nice mild heat for several seconds. Not gimmicky, just superb.
