A Hybrid Style West Coast Double IPA fermented with the same Belgian Yeast strain we use for our famed Wahoo Wheat Beer. Flaked Wheat, Caramel 20L, Honey Malt and Acidulated Malt add complexity, sweetness, and a nice dark yellow hue to this Belgian inspired brew. Hopped four different times in the brew house with a blend of Mt. Hood, Galena, Nugget, Chinook, and Palisade add sharp bitterness with subtle fruity, fresh melon-like flavors. The addition of Belgian Candi Sugar in the boil adds a hint of caramel sweetness and also aids in a dry finish. The Belgian Yeast adds some nice clove esters along with hints of fig and spice. Copious amounts of El Dorado, Palisade, and Crystal hops are added to the Dry Hopping to create a big juicy West Coast IIPA aroma our Ballast Point Ales are known for.

A Belgian style IPA with a punch. The aroma is pretty sweet; floral and fruity with some spice. The alcohol is also noticeable on the nose. It pours a deep golden, if not amber color with a thin film of head. The flavor gives you a huge dose of hoppy bitterness up front, then some decent sweetness and spice from the yeast. The beer is medium bodied, with soft carbonation and is slightly astringent. Overall good, really hoppy but a bit too big for me.

Keg at the Little Italy taproom - San Diego. Pours mostly clear gold with a frothy, pure white foam head. Big beer, with definite Belgian yeast expression, some melon, ripe citrus. Full bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, sticky, with some gooey fruits, perfume hops, pale bread, yeast. Decent, just a bit punchy overall.

Good IPA, nothing special, it is your average IPA. I was expecting a little more but. Great blonde color, not a lingering hoppy taste.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Yeast and grapefruit aroma with light sweet malt. Grapefruit and pine flavor with light soap and light yeast. Medium bodied. Grapefruit and pine lingers with light malt, yeast, and light spice.

On tap poured into a 4 oz sampler glass. Fairly complex aroma starts this off with a milky caramel candy note being most prevalent along with some pine, citrus, floral and maybe even spice showing up a little more subtly. It pours a deep honey colored body with a light white head. The taste is a blend of medium sweetness and light bitterness. The light, medium-light bodied beer has ample, but soft carbonation and goes down pretty smooth and slick. It has a mellow clove-spice burn with some dark fruit notes that get left on the mouth at the finish along with a slight roasty and grassy hop finish that shows up more on the aftertaste.

Tasted during RBWG. Clear orange, slighter red color. Thin off-white head. Good, splotchy lace. Nice, tropical fruity, grapefruit zest aroma. Good zesty taste, light noticeable bitter. Nice, smooth, lighter carbonation, kind of soft. More dry finish. Some belgian candy sugar. Solid, lightly spicy belgian IPA. Interesting, kind of grapefruity, thought not super special.

Draft at The Thirsty Monk. Pours a clear, bright gold with a small eggshell colored head. Aroma of sugar cookie, citrus fruits, wheat, mild spice, straw, and some sweat. Flavor of citrus and tropical fruits, sweet malts, pine resin, caramel, and wheat. Medium-bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a resinous mouthfeel. Drinks under 10% for sure. Nice double IPA.

Pleasant orange/citrus aroma with dashes of minerals, pine, yeast, and flowers. A very potent IPA that tastes almost like a hopped up punch. The label describes the ingredients and brewing in detail. There are 6 kinds of malts and 6 varieties of hops. It is still smooth on the palate despite its strength. The taste is a little weird, tho - orange peel, pipe tobacco, alcohol, yeast notes, and a little cooling menthol. It gets worse as it warms and develops a rough edge.

On tap at Thirsty Monk during 2014 RBWG. Pours a clear gold with a near white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a light citrus and pine note with sweet grains and a bit of Belgian yeast. Flavor has more pine but still a bit of citrus and a light Belgian yeast backbone.

Draft at Thirsty Monk. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have a nice malt base, Belgian yeast, sweet candi sugar, moderate hops. Nice drinking beer, but I generally like my DIPAs to be a bit more bitter.

Draft faker gold with slight orange hue. Nose some sweet fruit, dank hop, mild malt. Taste bitter up front followed by Belgian sweetness and hint of spice. Pleasing bitter finish.
