1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 4/20
bottle shared by samg, thanks dude. pours very dark brown with a decent light beige head, some retention and lacing. intense aromatic cumin/caraway seeds, dry coffee, peppery cayenne and peppers, umami - rancid and rotten meat, almost cloying molasses, soil, dirt. moderate carbonation, medium body - oily and sticky, grassy-spicy and tingling cayenne finish. normally, i do not dislike cumin. disgusted.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark brown with low beige head. Mahogany reflects. Aroma is of cumin, bugs, brown sugar, flowers, cherry bubblegum. Taste is of cumin, peppers (hot), some vanilla, slight bitterness. Palate: Light-medium body. Light carbonation. Overall: Not good at all. Fun to try, but really not an enjoyable brew for me.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark brown with a small white head that leaves light lacing. Nose is of an Indian spice shop, hot curry and all. Taste is incredibly spicy and hot, good thing that there is a nice lime flavor to it or else it would just be completely undrinkable. This is burning and I’m having a hard time imagining myself stomach more than the small glass that I have in front of me. I didn’t think it was horrible but just too spicy in summary. Carbonation was moderate, body as well. This isn’t a stout but still a fun experiment.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle (22 oz). Shared by Sam, thanks! Dark brown with a small beige head and little lacing. Aroma is a burst of cumin and not much else here. Taste is also agressively dominated by cumin, but there’s a subdued presence of coconut and lime in the finish. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Spicy finish. It might be fun on paper to make a beer with similar ingredients than Indian food, but this one doesn’t pass the reality test (and I like Indian food). Gross and undrinkable.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Ballast Point Indra Kunindra is great but not for the faint if heart. Curry like aromas dominate from this dark pour with the tight tan head. Lots of Indian spice dominates the flavor with a spicy kick. Spicy flavors linger so be forewarned. Really good if you like that type of food. Indra Kunindra is definitely an original.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Young & Jackson’s. Probably one of the weirdest stouts I have ever had but i absolutely loved this. Smells exactly like a curry, all the right elements are there - coconut, lime, spice, coriander, meatiness, cumin. Crazy good. I drank a pint of this, so that means it must be tasty

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Reviewed from notes: at a large share, first time having this beer. Pours a dark oil like black with tan head. Notes of coconut, oyster, and curry on the nose; coconut and cumin on the palate, with some sweetness. Finishes with a little heat, weird, but not bad.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown pour big dark tan head. Aroma of berries/lime, tumeric, black pepper, wood. Tastes woody, licorice, coconut. Flavors are a bit muted compared to the aroma. Watery palate with some sediment. Started strong, but doesn’t come through.

Beer tasting at Gravity. Nice aroma of curry and spice. Lots of curry flavors. Descent burn in the back of the throat from the cayenne. Great stout! Very unique.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 25, 2014 had it on tap at Ballast Point on India St. last Saturday. A complex brew. The smell can be off putting to some, but I found it pleasant. Fresh pencil shavings. The curry is distinct, cummin present and cayenne gives a slight burn. It may not the best for the Firestone 805 crowd. But a sophisticated beer drinker can appreciate. Ballast showed creativity with the fusion, while still making a very good beer.
