Pours black with a quickly dissipating tan head. Aromas of curry, cumin, a little chocolate. Taste is strong curry, cayenne, and cumin. Decent malty backbone thatís rich and slightly sweet. Finish is sweet with a lingering spicy warmth. Seems a little overly aggressive in spice but overall a very enjoyable experience.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small soda-like light brown head. The aroma is by far the strangest Iíve ever experienced with any beer. The lime is what stands out most, with coconut, curry, and a light background of roasted malt. Taste is equally bizarre, starts off rather stout-like, but quickly changes, more lime and coconut, and stronger curry flavors, lots of coriander and cumin, taste is relatively sweet overall. Finish is very spicy, almost enough to make me sweat, but that seems almost necessary. Light to medium body, soft carbonation. This is by far the strangest beer Iíve ever had. That being said itís pretty good.

Bottle. Pours black with thick tan head that quickly recedes to nothing. Nose is pretty crazy - big coconut aroma, some lime. Smells like a tropical drink or suntan lotion. Flavor is coconut, a more pronounced lime flavor, some curry, a decent amount of heat. Thick mouthfeel. Really unique.

Dark brown/black color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of sweet malt, cocoa, coconut, rich spice, & vanilla; Flavor of slight roasted sweet malt, chili peppers, curry, chocolate, and citrus (notably lime); Finish is quite hot; Interesting brew - but can be a bit much at times.

Draft. Deep brown body with a fizzy, beige head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of chocolate, spices, cumin, coconut, lime, pepper. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The finish is peppery hot. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Hereís how it goes with this beer. For the first second itís in your mouth, you get a wash of flavors that work really well together: chocolate, curry coconut, roasted malts, spice. Then, bam, the cayenne pepper washes away all of that, its heat lingering long into the finish. The server said the difference in this pepper beer was that you could drink a lot of it. I disagree. I was tired of it three-quarters of the way through. Itís unique, for sure. I was prepared after the first few ounces to give it a big rating. But I changed my mind as I walked away from it after 5 ounces to order a different beer.

Dark pour with ample head. Heavy spice that is long and strong in my throat. A sipper for sure.

Bottle from Bill. Pours a black color with mocha head. Aromas of coconut, lime zest, cumin, and curry. Taste is much of same with curry spice, cayenne pepper heat, and all other craziness going on in this beer, Awesomely unique brew from Ballast Point.

11/29/12 notes: bottle, $6.99. Pour is brown black, semi-viscous with a small white head. Aroma of mint, chipotle, dark chocolate. Body is creamy, mild carbonation, sticky but not too long. The salient flavor is mint, asian herbs initially- perhaps because of how unusual this flavor profile is. This is rounded by more traditional mocha and kilned malts, with a hit of peppery spice (I could see curry here if told) near the finish. Pretty well-rounded and unique creation, more effective than Stoneís mint chocolate porter, of which I draw intuitive comparisons. Score is only hampered by my belief that herbs and dark ales just donít make natural complements.

Thanks Billy for this bottle. Forgot to mention to him I donít like spicy beer. Enjoyed at fridge temp in a snifter.

A - Brown to black int eh glass, 2 finger leather head that fades to a thin line.

S - Smells of chipotle, chili peppers and Indian food.

T - Taste is very spicy at the finish. Up front itís like curry chicken and masala tea. The middle is roasted and nutty.

M - Heavy body, very foamy carbonation

O - This beer is very spicy. Luckily, the curry balances out the chili pepper pretty good. Itís still too spicy for my taste.
