On draught at The Monk’s Kettle in SF. Pours nearly black with a one-finger light brown head. Nose is overwhelming. Definitely tastes like a Thai curry: kaffir lime, coconut, curry, cayenne, cumin. You can definitely taste all the listed flavors because this is spiced to the Nth degree. Tastes just as spicy; the stout can barely fight its way through. This was an 11 oz pour. The taste grew really tiresome after about 5 oz. Unique, for sure.

Dark pour with a big tan head featuring bubbles of different sizes, looking somewhat like pancake batter freshly poured on a hot griddle. Curry aroma hits the nose even before lifting the glass. Cumin and cayenne are also well represented, along with roasted coffee. Very unusual and very tasty.

Where to begin? Huge aromas of lime leaf, coconut and mild yellow curry. Sweet lime up front with the spices mixed in. Finishes warm and long with some heat. Crazy stuff.

Dark brown pour big dark tan head. Aroma of berries/lime, tumeric, black pepper, wood. Tastes woody, licorice, coconut. Flavors are a bit muted compared to the aroma. Watery palate with some sediment. Started strong, but doesn’t come through. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Maddest beer I’ve had. Cleverest too. The pungent curry aroma carries to the taste profile. Nice bitterness, and little heat kick at the end. This is a clever beer that is consistent from first to last, the taste and aroma are deliberate and not fleeting. As it warms you get more of the things like the coconut, but each mouthful starts with the aroma burst... Ticked that off the list, move on.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 4/21/2014. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 2 finger fairly dense tan head with decent retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, toast, roasted malt, vanilla, coconut, cumin, cinnamon, clove, peppercorn, cardamom, cayenne, lime, herbal, and toast/herbal earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and the wide variety of spices; with good strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, toast, roasted malt, vanilla, coconut, cumin, cinnamon, clove, peppercorn, cardamom, cayenne, lime, herbal, and toast/herbal earthiness. Moderate earthy spices and heat on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, toast, vanilla, coconut, cumin, cinnamon, clove, peppercorn, cardamom, cayenne, lime, herbal, and toast/herbal earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and big spice flavors; with a nice malt/spice balance with no cloying flavors after the finish and a moderate amount of lingering heat. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth and fairly creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol was well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish other than the heat from the spices. Overall this was a very nice spiced stout. All around good complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and spice flavors; and quite smooth to sip on despite the moderate heat. A very enjoyable offering.

Dark brown with almost no head. Aroma is spicy, curry and sweet. A predominant spicy taste with a slight sweetness. Just not my style of beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz bottle- Pours completely black with a huge three finger head that’s full of big bubbles and reduces leaving cobwebby lace. Aroma is strong Indian spices, it actually made me sneeze, cayenne pepper, curry, cumin and coconut are all there, wonderful aroma. The taste is strong toasted coconut, not getting much heat off the bat, cumin is there as well, very easy drinking for an export stout. Body is a bit thin and carbonation is soft. Very much enjoyed this, experimental and really tasty.

Dark brown. Nose, taste, finish: all liquified curry. Medium mouthfeel. I love curry so I enjoyed a small pour but drinking an entire glass would be a chore.
