A classic German-Style Beer, Brewed in San Diego. Our Longfin Lager has become one of the go-to beers with the team at the brewery. A solidly balanced Helles inspired Lager with a clean, slightly hoppy finish that could easily fit in at any German beer garden. We think it’s perfect for enjoying on the beach, the boat or anywhere else you can put an ice chest full of beer.

Can. Gold body with a medium foamy white head. Aroma is sweet malt, light biscuit, grass and lemony notes. Taste is grassy hops, biscuit, sweet malt, bread dough and lemony notes. Light honey as well. Body is light-medium with a strong bubbly and prickly carbonation. Ends with more grassy hops, sweet malt, light honey, lemon and biscuit notes. Nice summer beer!

12 oz. can pours a pale yellow straw color with small, short-lived white head and no lacing. Aroma is full of bread and grass. Taste is slightly bitter without much of a finish. Body is light with average carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. Very refreshing and easy to drink. If the label didn’t say Ballast Point, I would have said that this is has the taste of a classic malty lager that is distincly German.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours pale yellow with a white head. Taste lightly sweet, grassy, light. I thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

7/4/15. On tap, Craft on Draft. Basically clear golden pour with a nice off-white head, good lacing. Looks good. Doughy aroma, lots of cracker and biscuit, light lemon zest, seltzer water. Doughy flavor, almost corn, raw pizza dough, pils malt, lemon zest. Not bad.

12oz can. Been waiting a while to try this one, very excited for it to finally arrive. Code on bottom reads 15160 11:05 LF 103. Pours a clear golden color, with a fizzing airy finger of white head, fades to a thin ring. No lace sticks. Nice bigger bready malt up front in the nose. Some pepperiness to the flavor. Bit of cornbread. A mild bite towards the finish. A decent bit of citrusy and peppery hop. Some interesting lager mustiness. Mild bit of butter. Moderate-plus sweet taste. Light to moderate bitter. Lighter to medium body. Kind of slick texture. Lighter, kind of crisp, slightly effervescent carbonation. Solid, interesting helles. Pleasant bit of hop that adds some bitterness but doesn’t distract. Was nicer to sip on it’s own than with my sub. Solid. But unnecessarily premium at $11/6pk. Was hoping for more, from Ballast Point.

Can: Strong hay and grain aroma. Crystal clear yellow, thick head, good lace. Grain, cane sugar. Paper finish. Light body, easy carbonation. Nice intensity for a lager, but too sweet.

BOD 140/15. Clear golden pour. World class head volume, outstanding lacing and retention. Typical lager nose - yeast, mild biscuit malt and a touch of grassy hops. Heavy light body with a smooth texture. Superbly carbonated with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a nice prickly finish. The outstanding flavor profile is intense, a bit complex and masterfully balanced. It begins with a blend of grassy and herbal hop flavor. The middle brings a very mild bitterness that is balanced by a subtle cracker biscuit sweetness. The finish is crisp and a herbal noble hop flavor lingers.

Expecting way more from ballast point. It was Ok, but nearly tasteless! I could feel it was a nice water the one they made this beer. But nothing of complexity, just a bit earthy sweet very little caramel, cereal taste. Even though its nice really cold for a summer day. But I think my situation was not the best, it was cold and I was eating a Hamburguer! Maybe in different situation. But this is still not a very interesting lager. Anyway, its better than industrial things. If theres no other choice, I would say go for it, but dont expect much.

Bottle pours light golden with white fluffy head retention. Palate: Lemony, chamomile flavor with soft bitterness. Overall, a let down for the style.
