A classic German-Style Beer, Brewed in San Diego. Our Longfin Lager has become one of the go-to beers with the team at the brewery. A solidly balanced Helles inspired Lager with a clean, slightly hoppy finish that could easily fit in at any German beer garden. We think it’s perfect for enjoying on the beach, the boat or anywhere else you can put an ice chest full of beer.

Can. Pale. Straw. Yellow. Head? Yes. Retention? Not exactly. Nose? Piss. Taste? Grain. Summary: Boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring. Note: if this was a ’macro’ brew, it would have gotten a more interesting rating due to exceeding expectations, but seeing as Ballast Point (up to this point) hasn’t disappointed me, this one doesn’t deserve the creative energy of a real review. Yes, I’m currently drunk and normally a dickhead anyway.

GABF 2013. Pours a clear yellow appearance with a lasting white head. A bit grassy, somewhat husky, lemon, light cracker aroma. Crisp, somewhat dry, toasted malty, light lemon flavor. Pretty easy drinking, basic brew.

A little too sweet. Uninhibited maltiness meets salt water taffy. Longfin has the nose of apple peels. The color is an obligatory off-tan, yellow.

This is a pretty decent bready lager in a vaguely European style. It is a cloudy golden color w/ grassy hops and grain husk in the nose. Taste is a bit on the sweet side w/ a slight buttery note that seems to fade to the background as you drink it. It is a flavor flaw but pretty minor and I’d imagine if you drank this in quantity you would not care after a while. This is a decent beer w/ a reasonable amount of bitterness in the finish but I think there are lots of similar beers that work a lot better.

12oz bottle pours a bright clear golden/straw with a large white head. Aroma of sweet honey, slight yeast, a little bread, and some grassy hops. Taste is all around very light, light bread and very light grassy hops. Really not much flavor, but hey it’s a very drinkable lager.

Draught at Monks Sveavägen, Stockholm, during Ballast Point Tap Take Over 130927. Clear pale golden beer with a lasting white head. Malty diacetyl aroma, caramel, hay, grass, herbal notes. Hoppy grassy flavor, caramel, hay, floral, bready, grainy, some spices. Bready hop finish.

12 oz. can. It’s labeled as a Helles, and I think it fits that description better than Premium Lager even though there probably isn’t much of a difference. It pours a crystal clear yellow color with a nice fizzy white head. The aroma is fresh bready pils malt with distinct floral and spicy noble hops. Not prominent, but in balance. The flavor is dry, crisp and bready with a hint of noble hop bitterness in the finish. Ultra clean and refreshing. Great pilsner malt crispness. I’ll be taking this one to the beach often.
