Wonderfully smooth and lightly sweet. Supremely drinkable and with only a hint of bitterness. A nice oily texture. A good weight. Very good.

12oz can pours with a hazy gold body that has copper hues and supports a thin bright white head of foam. The aroma offers up grainy malts, some floral hops and then other various grainy notes and breadiness mixed with a lagery yeasty sense. The taste begins with a nice grainy maltiness and then flows into some malt sweetness and faint pear flavored cotton candy mixed with floral hop flavor and almost no hop bitterness. To midway a pleasing bready to grain note moves forward and sends back some of the sweetness to create some balance. It ends with a nice lingering bready sort of graininess and then mild floral hops. I like.

Bottle. Pale slightly hazy yellow pour with a small pure white head. Grainy nose with just the tiniest hint of skunk. Crisp clean palate with a lemony grain taste, some grassy hops. Good tasting brew.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with part of the stamp rubbed of. I see the numbers 25 and 3784. The pour is a slightly hazy pale yellow and a fast acting white fizzy head. The aroma is Euro-malts, light toffee, slight citrus, and herbal quality. The body is light, creamy but certainly not watery. The taste has Germany all over it with the sweet biscuit malt character, herbs, and a balanced clean finish. It is a well put together lager.

12oz can poured into a pint glass. Clear yellow in color with a short-lived 1 inch white head of foam. Somewhat decent malt aroma, good mouthfeel, loses me on taste- malt profile greatly resembles Coors Banquet, just turned up a couple of notches, certainly not what you would expect for a beer labeled as a Helles.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 One of my go-to lagers is Ballast Point’s Longfin. With a mellow understated nose of corn flakes and plantains, the beer serves greater purpose on the palate. A crisp structured body carries grainy biscuity notes that last through to the smooth finish. ---- instagram.com/pintofbitter

Tap at Mikkeller Bar SF. Actually a pretty solid lager. Light citrus and bread notes on the nose. Taste is clean and crisp. Solid stuff.

On tap at Bronx Ale House. A bland lager, with a little corn sugar-like sweetness. Very light body and hops. Come on, Ballast Point - you can do better than this.
