Made with only six ingredients. Malted 2-row barley, palisade hops, orange blossom honey, White Labs California Ale Yeast, apricots and San Diego carbon filtered tap water. Low bitterness is balanced by tart apricots with a sweet but not cloying finish. Barmy Ale can be aged up to eight years with a strong honey wine character emerging if cellared. Be careful not to be the barmiest of them all.

Pours a nice copper/gold from a bottle, thick white head with a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of honey, a light apricot. Flavor is much heavier on both fronts with a hint of melon. Big mouthfeel matched by a bit of alcohol burn. Very good beer.

Bottle. Orange-amber with a tall, dense, frothy gold head. Aroma is boozy and sweet with big fruit and honey notes and a candyish note. Taste is big fruit up front, dark honey notes, candied fruit, booze and sticky sugars. Body is medium with a slight syrupyness. Dense carbonation with a mild stickiness and warmth. Ends with more big fruit notes, candied fruit, honey, light caramel, booze and sugary notes.

This is a fruit beer? Well, I thought it was an American strong ale, hence I put it in a snifter. The appearance was a soft hazy semi-burnt bronze golden transaparency. Carbonation is barely seem. But a thin rimmed white little head that dissipated nice with a delicate spider web lacing. The aroma blends sweet apricot along with the honey. Sticky malty notes underneath. The flavor is the sticky apricot and honey along with the malts, somewhat Belgian sweetness. But no spice. Smooth sticky notes hit in the aftertaste and then hitting lightly in the finish, fairly quick. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a delicate smooth stickiness rolling over my tongue. Overall, fruit beer or American Strong ale, hmmmm....well, itís quite good, whatever itís supposed to be. Iíd have this again.

Bottle from Bottle Bin. Very potent brew with a really sugary taste up front. The sweetness almost becomes cloying, but stops just shy. Alcohol is underlying, but hidden just beneath the surface. Pretty good for its potency. The flavors are well balanced to keep this beer from going to far in any direction, but just barely.

Vegetal apricot, maraschino cherries aroma. Clear amber, medium head. Maraschino cherries, triple sec, sweet roll, honey. Full body, moderate carbonation, warm. Boozy and sweet, the last thing this beer needed was a honey addition.

Bottle pours a clear yellow-orange with a small sand head and good lacing. Smells a nostril-clearing alcohol with plenty of Sculpin-like aroma and tree fruit. Woody sweet like oak aged but with a more fruity sharp finish. The alcohol doesnít come through in the taste nearly as much as in the aroma. If they had claimed this was an American strong ale mixed with Sculpin, I would have believed them.
