3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at Mikes grill & tap. Aroma should be stronger. Definite apricot in the scent but too light. Very pretty golden color with a sizable tuft of cream colored foam. Tastes a little funky, slightly sour in the aftertaste with not much else in between, just light apricot again. Good palate, just slick enough and the added carbonation breaks through the dullness. Overall I would not buy this again. Is it sacrilege for me to say that ballast point is overrated? Sculpin and most of its variants are on point but just about everything else I have had from them is a miss.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/6/2016. Pours fairly crystal clear deep golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big honey, apricot, peach, pear, apple, white grape, mango, cracker, biscuit, floral, and herbal/yeast earthiness. A bit of booziness in the aromas as well. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of apricot/honey, fruity/spicy yeast, and pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big honey, apricot, peach, pear, apple, white grape, mango, cracker, biscuit, floral, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitter/spiciness and light tart/tangy fruit notes on the finish; with lingering notes of honey, apricot, peach, pear, apple, white grape, mango, cracker, biscuit, floral, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of apricot/honey, fruity/spicy yeast, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/tart/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a smooth, bready/grainy/creamy, and slightly slick/syrupy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with a small warmth lingering after the finish; with minimal booziness. Overall this is a very good fruited imperial golden ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of apricot/honey, fruity/spicy yeast, and pale malt flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottled, poured into a goblet. God, do I regret buying a six pack of this. After having Watermelon Dorado, which I recall tasting somewhat like stomach acid and vinegar mixed with a wedding champagne hangover, I thought BP’s expanding fruit-inspired product line couldn’t get worse. Color is amber-gold with low carbonation that goes dead still in three minutes. Aroma is dehydrated apricots, apple juice, booze and plastic. Flavor is cloying white grape juice, butterscotch, apricots, immense alcohol and that flavor of watered down McDonalds iced tea after all the ice has melted in your 32oz cup. Not nearly enough bitterness to play out the sweetness. Palate is still, oily, and doesnt help the flavor mess.
I could see this tasting like a mediocre mead after a few years in the cellar. Still, kind of gross at its current state. For the high-gravity lineup, I’ll to the classics like barrel-aged Victory at Sea.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bright golden hue under a thin foamy white head, with a bright gold malt and fruity apricot nose. Full and boozy bready lager flavor with a fair bit of apricot and blonde malt breadiness. Light semisweetness throughout, but one dimensional and slightly grapey and boozy.
