COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with only six ingredients. Malted 2-row barley, palisade hops, orange blossom honey, White Labs California Ale Yeast, apricots and San Diego carbon filtered tap water. Low bitterness is balanced by tart apricots with a sweet but not cloying finish. Barmy Ale can be aged up to eight years with a strong honey wine character emerging if cellared. Be careful not to be the barmiest of them all.

This beer is very rare and made in small batches. It is also very awsome from the first sip to the last! made with apricots and orange blossom honey itís a 10.7% dream for strong ale and meade lovers. Strong fruit and honey through out and a nice full body. Nice mouth feel. Great carbonation.

The approach to brewing Barmy is fairly spartan (only 6 ingredients), but that doesnít mean a smaller beer. Given Barmyís relatively mild malt and fruit aromas, I was pretty surprised how big and boozy it tasted. This is a 12-percenter, and itís definitely warm and syrupy despite the light golden color. The apricots blend nicely with the already rich and fruity malts. The candy-like malts also play well with the honey. Some mildly spicy and floral notes. This is a classy and unique release. It tastes damn good with dried apricots and stilton.

Very very light smell...hard to even place...but good...taste is mostly malt but some fruity/pilsnery hops...flying saucer after work

Bottle. Apricot aroma with with notes of sweet honey, booze and a slight amount of hops. Pours clear golden colored with a thin white head that has decent retention and excellent lacing. Starts with sweet apricot and honey flavors. Finishes dry with a a small amount of hoppiness and quite a bit of booze that lingers through the end of the sip. Quite good, but a large amount of booze detracts from it a little.

Gold pour with small white head. Nose of candied apricot and caramel. Flavor is big with tropical fruit and sugar. Body is thick and sticky that can really drag. Very much a sipper.

Another fruit-themed beer from Ballast Point that falls well short of the beerís superior IPAs and porters. Barmy pours bright, clear golden color with average head and a great deal of carbonation. The aroma is sweet, the honey really comes through, along with a mellow caramel malt. The apricot is a mild note on the flavor, but I donít know if Iíd have noticed it at all if I hadnít been looking for it. Mostly the flavor is dominated by big, boozy alcohol. Others have said the alcohol is hidden in this beer, but I donít think so at all. In fact, the boozy vapor was just about all I could taste.

Bright golden body with a small lid of white bubbles. Scents of overripe light fruit, pale malt, heavy malt liquor, and floral hops. Light sweet start with light fruit and hints of alcohol. Alcohol is there, yet it seems to be hidden. Still, Iíd have to call this a high quality malt liquor.

Drank from a glass, poured from a bottle, this ale was a very clear pale orange color in the glass with yellow and gold mixed in, the pour gave about a one finger white cover, it left nice spots and fingers of lacing on the glass, the nose had aromas of white flowers, light flesh fermented stone fruit, apricot, some citrus, pale malt and bread, malt and sugar sweetness, I could tell there was alcohol in this drink, the flavors were stone fruit, ALCOHOL, apricot, citrus hops, light malt and bread, a little dough, and peppery phenols, the finish has a pepper bite with a alcohol burn that hung around, the mouth feel was thin, almost watery for a 12% alc. drink, it had soft carbonation, the beer looked nice in the glass, it had a nice presentation, the nose was weak and simple for a big beer, the nose was pretty much light fruit and sugar like sweetness, the flavor was as simple as the nose and had a bit of a alcohol burn, you knew there was alcohol on the nose but it wasnít that discouraging, the alcohol on the taste buds was a bit much, if this beer had less alcohol it would be a more enjoyable drink.

On tap at Champps American in Brookfield as part of the Ballast Point 20 brews for Champps 20th anniversary celebration. Orange copper pour with a white head. Aroma has some apricot, some wine cooler, light basement from a blend that didnít come together well? Taste is fruity, sweet malty, tangy but not overly so. Better than described however not as fruity as should be. Medium bodied with a subtle alcohol kick. The blend is only ok. Finishes tangy sweet, although fairly muted. Meh. Was not as fruity as hoped. 13.7

Aroma is apricot, booze, medicinal, honey, eh. Appearance is golden amber, off white head, mostly clear. Taste is booze, apricot, honey, incredibly medicinal, wheat, malt, I donít like it. Mouthfeel is medium body, light crisp carbonation, booze and honey aftertaste. Overall, this is too much, nothing really good about it.
