yespr (7843), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 From tap at the brewery. Pours clear and golden hazzlenut brown with a lacing white head. Dense caramel and breadish malt aroma. Flavour is breadish and light hops bitter with a light spiced note. Ends dry and breadish malty. Nice and easy. hopscotch (4679), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2008 Draft... RBSG ‘08... Beautiful, crystal clear, copper ale with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. The subtle aroma is of caramel; nothing more, nothing less. Medium-bodied and slightly creamy with subdued carbonation. Sways just a tad toward the bitter side of balance. Finishes caramelly, then bitter. goldtwins (3747), Nesconset, New York, USA Aug 8, 2008 RBSG: Growler @ production facility. Poured a clear mahogany color with a beige head. The aroma had a light sweetness with plenty of caramel malt. Hints of fruit, chocolate and smoke. The flavor also had plenty of caramel malt sweetness. A little more smoke notes to the flavor. Medium bodied. Ughsmash (3148), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 6, 2008 Growler at Ballast Point. Poured clear, rich caramel with a creamy, well-retained cap of beige head. The aroma picked up sweet toasty caramel with just a faint hint of smoke.. well-presented. The flavor was sweeter, yet still dry with a hint of toffee and nutmeg along with the caramel.. drier finish with more lightly-smoked caramel.. tasty. Medium-bodied and dry overall with a light smoky finish. Good one. DA (2586), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Aug 13, 2008 RBSG 2008. Pours amber with a tall light tan head. Smooth and balanced, with warm caramel malt base. I didn’t pick up much smokiness in this, and they said it was modeled after Belhaven’s scottish which has a lot more smokiness. Smooth and drinkable, but a smoky finish would have done wonders.
