Pours a dark reddish brown with a small tan head. Aroma is of rum, stone fruits, molasses, caramel, oak, and light booze. Taste is about the same as the aroma with the addition of some oak and light vanilla notes. Has a medium-full body with a creamy mouthfeel and a mostly sweet, medium finish. Overall, a pretty nice barley wine that is smooth compared to the original three sheets and is pretty tasty with some nice rum notes.

Tap at the brewery. Cola brown pour, still in the glass, khaki head that fades to a thin ring. Complex nose if rum soaked oak, merlot, and corn syrup. It actually reminds me a lot of Utopias but not as robust. Taste resembles the aroma quite a bit but not as sweet as I ha expected. Rum, oak, and sugar in the raw on white toast. Ruby Port wine-like finish.

At Old Grove. 1st non-California rate! Pours a burnt caramel color with a soapy khaki head. Aroma is rum, vanilla, raisin, candied sugar. Taste is sweet and bitter. Definitely hot. Medium bodied and sticky . The batch was from 2010, but it was still hot. Could be awesome, but it needs to chill.

Taster at home brew. Pours dark brown with just a touch of red. Little ring of white foam edges the glass. Aroma is sweet barley malts, rum, and candy cane, nice bitterness, a little bit of something like anise in there, a real helping of black licorice. Good, bt again, 4 oz taster is enough.

Draft at Stone Oakquinoz 2012. Amber pour. Toffee, sweet rum fruits, oak, raisin, caramel, and vanilla. A very nice barrel aged barleywine.

Pours amber in color with an off-white head. A really nice rum aroma to this. Tons of wood and vanilla followed by a healthy dose of brown sugar, caramel, and toffee. A hint of alcohol on the finish. The flavor is full of sweet rum and sugar flavors with a light spice and a light fruitiness. Moderate wood flavor and plenty of vanilla. Maybe a little bit oxidized and a little bit of heat.
