3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tokyogoat (1503) - San Diego, USA - AUG 1, 2010
A really nice beer, the ingredients are unorthadox, the beer doesnt follow its style too well, but somehow it really works. there was a hint of a metallic flavor, but it wasnt overwhelming, the crazy mix of spice and ingredients ended up harmonious and gave a hint of booze heat on the tongue which was odd but nice. Really a cool beer.

Draught at TND: Complex aroma of malt, sage, honey, and spices. Aroma is too complex. Poured deep amber/orange in color with a small, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Slightly hazy. Sparkling. Very complex flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of lemon/lime, malt, spices, cinnamon, cardamom, light candi sugar, simple syrup, and sprite. Medium body. Lively to average carbonation. Malt, candi sugar, spice, lemon/lime finish. 7.5%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

Sampled on tap at Pinocchio’s. Dark amber pour...it smells like Listerine. A sip...man, it tastes like Listerine. Spiced and medicinal. A saison? Whatever. It’s awful. Reminds me of 3F Rabid Rabbit, or whatever it’s called. Truly awful.

Draft. Dark amberish color, off-white head. Sweet malt, lots of spice and herbs going on in this beer, fruit, some grass, and grain. The beer is quite different with spiced, almost too much spice for my taste.

Pours a lightly hazed tea leaf brown with a small bubbly off white head. Some clove spice and fruit esters dominated both aroma and flavor.

This is one of those interesting, flavor filled beers that is good once I realized it was not the style listed. Not a saison in my book. More of a local farmer’s market brown. Good all around.

This is not a saison and to call it such is retarded. Call it a saison inspired something or other but not a saison. You don’t call a stout a pale ale and this is no saison.
