Taster. Pale orange gold, white head. Fresh hop and dank aroma. Mild pine resin and sweet toffee, fresh clean finish. Delicious!

Draught at Ballast Point Linda Vista Road, San Diego. Slightly hazy golden beer with a nice offwhite head. Hoppy pine flavor, citrus, grapes, tangerines and grapes. Hoppy pine flavor, citrus, oranges, grapes, some pine apples. A tad thin but still refreshing.

Draft. Pours golden orange with a white head. Fruity cascade hop profile, mild/moderate bitterness, mild malty sweetness, and some light spicy hoppy notes as well. Pretty good, but at any given time BP will have 3-4 IPAs on that are better than this.

Draught at Luluís, 7/10/15
Glassy, pale gold appearance with a small, foamy white head that shows moderate retention.
Soft, clean nose shows fuzzy apricot and tangerine notes, fresh, leafy-green floral hop notes and a smattering of pale malt sugars, light touches of fruitiness from the yeast and no alcohol or flaw.
Itís funny how similar all of the (very few) wet hopped beers Iíve tried taste. They all have low bitterness, which is nice, with a lightly grainy, almost plant-like (white tea like, perhaps?) flavor. Some continuous, soft orange/tangerine-like flavors are highly pleasant and no resin is noted, the simcoe and centennial being only present in dry-hop form. Watery, drinkable texture with medium carbonation. High attenuation and quite dry. Great session beer. Ballast Point is really doing great things (minus Sculpin having gone down hill, IMHO).

On tap at the source. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a thin white head. Aroma is hoppy grassy. Flavor follows. Earthy. Nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Ballast Point brewery. Pours a brilliant bright orange with firm small white head. Nose is very light tropical fruit, mango and a grassy note. Taste is relatively bland. Maybe some mango, pine and a little grapefruit. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

With itís super fresh aromatics and hop presence, it sure blurs the line between ipa (especially the new trend towrds sessio ipas) and pale ale. I bet the ibus are lower than a lot of ipas, though the hops are used at the right time and are showcased well. Great combo of vibrant hop varieties. Citrusy, tropical and spicy, with very light pine and caramel. Light bodied and refreshingly delicious. I could drink a lot of this. aroma and flavor would be 8.5 if i could, so overall gets a 9 to make up for that :)"

April 15th, 2012 - Ballast Pointís dry hopped beer shines even in the relatively dim tasting room attached to the home-brew shop, with a clear, fall foliage golden and brown glow, made brighter by the head that pops up and then vanishes well before the first sip. The aroma is brilliantly fresh, like walking around and through fresh hop vines and wiping the resin on my nostrils. The taste is also lovely, with an elusive sweetness thatís somewhere between rosewater and sweet cream. A lighter weight palate with lower carbonation puts extra emphasis on the freshness of the hops notes, which embrace the tongue lightly, but deliver a clean, staccato hoppy bitterness. However, the hops plays second fiddle to that delicate sugar flavor in a confounding, but incredibly pleasant way. This is, again, one of those incredible beers that outshines Ballast Pointís bottled brews, but one that stays home at the taproom.
