COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Grapefruit Sculpin is the latest take on our signature IPA. Some may say there are few ways to improve Sculpinís unique flavor, but the tart freshness of grapefruit perfectly complements our IPAís citrusy hop character. Grapefruitís a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer.

Thanks Shawn! Pours a mostly clear golden color with lacing left on the glass. Aroma of hoppy citrus fruits and light malts. Grapefruit is the overwhelming flavor, but not off-putting. Good balance, slightly bitter and creamy mouthful. No detection of alcohol. Could drink a few of these in one sitting. Would recommend to others.

Draft at world of beer denver. Aroma of citrus (grapefruit, duh) that completely masks the hops. Slightly hazy yellow with thin white head. Strong grapefruit forward taste with hop finish. Very nice!

Bottle from a friend. Pours a honey color with a thick, pillowy head. Lots of grapefruit on the nose, I mean a lot! The grapefruit taste isnít as intense as the aroma, but it complements the well balanced malt and hop flavors. Finish is kinda short but pleasantly bitter. What an awesome beer.

Sample from at the Jackie Oís Staff Bottle Tasting Part 1 on 04/11/2015. Pours a clear bright orange-gold color with a medium fluffy white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of grapefruit, hops and malt. Medium-bodied with a pungent grapefruity character with hops and roast malt behind it. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering grapefruit and hops aftertaste. Enjoyable beer all around.

Plenty of grapefruit here. Mild malt sweetness. Tart and sour grapefruit balances great with tropical hops. Long dry finish begging for more. Great stuff!!

12oz bottle. Pours amber with a big, fluffy white head. Aroma is of grapefruit. Lots of grapefruit. Also, slight hop aroma. Mostly grapefruit, though. Taste is not what I expected at all. Itís very bitter, but not hop bitter. Taste likes bitter grapefruit rind. Lingering bitter citrus flavor. I can barely taste the hops. Has some very faint spice and pine, but itís buried below the grapefruit. As it warms up, the grapefruit becomes less bitter, but still overpowering. When it got room temperature, it finally became tolerable. Just a massive disappointment to me.

Not the best IPA Iíve ever had, nor the worst. Bought a single bottle at Whole Foods to try out. Heard a lot of buzz about this beer. Ballast Point was making a buzz in PDX last time I was there. Their bees are just about everywhere. This was my first brew of theirs to taste. Pours a beautiful very slightly hazy amber-copper. Plenty of lacing on this one. Aroma- bigtime citrus, grapefruit, some piney resin. Taste is almost sour, but some sweetness too. The citrus really overwhelms the palate- itís slick in the mouthfeel but astringent going down. I think as a novelty, not a bad beer. But, compared to the vast range of IPAs out there it falls short for me.

Grapefruit, grapefruit, and more grapefruit. If you want grapefruit juice with a slight hop presence, this is great. If you want an IPA with a grapefruit presence, look somewhere else
