AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 5, 2008 Pours a very clear gold in color with only a ring of froth. Smell is very piney hops. Taste is very green, brutally bitter hops. This is very fresh and very green. Very bittering and tongue ripping. This is a aggressive and brutal onslaught on your palate. The bottle is incredible, I could only imagine how this is on draft. Wow. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Oct 3, 2008 Bottle Shared with GMCC2181, thanks Gabe. Aroma was pine, citrus and hops. Color was a nice bright light orange with nice head. Taste was pine, floral, and grassy. A nice easy to drink smooth IPA. GMCC2181 (846), Bear, Delaware, USA Oct 3, 2008 Updated: Oct 14, 2009Bottle from spark-dog! Thanks E! Nice aroma, very piney, plus mango and citrus hops. Color was a light orange, decent head. Taste was different from most IPA’s. Light in texture. Nice mango bitter hop balance. Not over bitter at all... More like a strong pale ale....???? Overall pretty sweet taste, but holds the classic IPA characteristics. Very easy to drink, for sure one of the better IPA’s out there. I like the light texture and drinking it on the warmer side ~55 degrees. Thanks Eric! kyzr (1119), Belgrade, Montana, USA Oct 2, 2008 Bottle thanks to doubleo. Pours fairly clear copper with frothy white. Huge pine/citrus nose. Flavor is all pine with back notes of grapefruit. Nice bit of sweetness that tries to round it out, but who cares, this a well made hopped up IPA! Tmoney99 (4656), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 30, 2008 Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy white head that lasted with good lacing. Medium body with a slick texture. Moderate to heavy sour citrus hoppy aroma. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Standout brew. BrotherGrendel (548), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Sep 22, 2008 Pours a crystal clear, light orange gold hue, moderate layer of dense white foam sustains, light lacing.
Aroma is piney resin, citrus zest, light fruits, bubblegum, a touch of underlying malt crispness, touch of alcohol.
Taste is pine resin hops with a touch of florals and grass, sweet fruits and lemon/grapefruit acidity soon jump into the profile, some toasty malt enters midway, finishes dry and bitter.
Palate is medium, thick and chewy texture doesn’t stay too long, moderate high carbonation.
Overall a well-built IPA, the fruit and citrus provide a unique taste and the clean malt sweetness balances out the hop bitterness, a nice refreshing treat with subdued alcohol flavor. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 19, 2008 Updated: Oct 5, 2008Bomber courtesy of DarkElf. Pours a crystal clear gold with one finger white head and spotty lacing. Nose is very fruity with ripe oranges and pink grapefruit. Taste is caramel, apricots, orange peel and a resiny pine finish. Medium mouth feel. This is a full flavor IPA and I’m glad I got a chance to try it this fresh. Thanks Stephen again for the hook-up! alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Sep 14, 2008 Bottle; picked up yesterday. Poured a rich gold; carbonation streams; lacing; compact, medium sized white head. Huge, pungent aroma; grapefruit, melonand citrus, with some pine,, toffee and buttered bread. Great aroma. Had a sample on cask yesterday, but I definitely like it from the bottle today better. Powerful hop presence, as expected. Sweet caramel beginning that gives way to grapefruit and pine. Some buttery, biscuit in the middle. Very nice balance and just an overall really good beer. Up there with the best of the style.
