FlssmrBrewAlum (1079), Lisle, Illinois, USA Sep 13, 2009 22 oz bottle courtesy of duffmansw extra. Pours a hazy golden pour, a touch amber, with moderate offwhte head, quite bubbly and carbonated, decent lacing. Aromas throw good floral hopping, grapefruit rind, resinous pine, and tropical fruits mellower underneath, with pale and caramel malts that take a backseat. Initial is medium bodied, even keeled wih a good hopping of citrus, florals, and tropical fruits, the malt body isn’t overbearing and a carmel bomb, but still packs a good balanced bitterness. Tropical mango always wins points with me in an IPA, with a touch of soapiness, good citrus to boot. This is a quality IPA than does’t weigh you down in the malt department, but still makes a valiant effort with a touch of gumball and good fruit and bitterness with pale and caramel malts in expertly decided quantity. One of the best IPAs I’ve had. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Sep 10, 2009 On tap @ Obriens. Orange yellow pour, off white head. Huge hop aroma, tropical fruits, citrus, pine. Flavors of bright pine, light fruits, ans citrus/citrus rind, very fresh. Bitterness holds largest presense with mild sweetness and dry finish. Awesome, aroma was more powerful than the Pliny I had before it, which was plenty powerful on its own. biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Sep 8, 2009 Growler from Grape Vine in Fort Mill. Had been looking forward to this for a long time, with all the hype. QUITE disappointing. Nice aroma and initial flavor, then just fades into a thin finish in body and flavor, with just the dry bitterness. Ah well. thefle (111), , New Jersey, USA Sep 7, 2009 Great brew, shared a bottle w rciesla. Very unique taste for an IPA, which i was very much a fan of. Snag this up when possible, great beer puggy211 (576), cordova, Tennessee, USA Sep 6, 2009 This IPA pours a gorgeous clear bright golden orange color with a good sized bone-white head on it that left spotting lacing on my glass. The nose on this beer is very unique and interesting for an IPA. I think mango is the strongest scent followed by passion fruit, peaches, lemon and orange zest, floral hops, and a slight pine bitterness as well. The smell on this beer is leaping from my glass, and it never left for the entire beer. The flavor profile is loaded with citrus fruits with grapefruit and tangerines being very dominant followed up with only a slight touch of caramel malt. The hops are extremely fresh and vibrant on this offering. The malt is only barely noticeable, but somehow supports the hops beautifully. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation that left a very dry finish on the back of my palate. The drinkability is superb on this beer, and is one of the best IPAs I’ve have ever had the pleasure of tasting drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Sep 4, 2009 Fantastic. Fruit tones. Grapefruit dominates taste and aroma. Lots of pine. Delicious IPA. Lagunitasfan (432), San Diego, California, USA Sep 4, 2009 22 oz bottle. Bright amber with orange to it. Very cheerful happy color. The lace looks like something that sat on the counter in a half full glass for a week during the summer in fresno. It’s pretty thick. The nose is super piny hops. A bit of funkiness hides behind the Christmas tree. Taste is similar to the nose. Bright pine tree, some almost farmhouse funkiness ala Hop Stoopid, and bitter stickiness at the end. Not overly sweet at all. Damn fine IPA. More striking than some IIPAs I’ve had. Tejas (693), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 4, 2009 Light gold w/ a huge white cloudy head. Interesting IPA. Sort of light and intense grassy flavors. Wow, fruity flavors show up as it warms up.
