Commercial Description:
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

650 bottle from Bev4less in Santee. Pours a copper-gold color with a big sudsy white head that leaves plenty of lacing. The aroma is rich and pungent with big citrus notes, mandarin oranges in particular, this nose had a Pavlovian effect on me in which I broke out into a drool. A perfect ten in aroma! The taste is centered on the various fruits listed in the description with a big focus on sweetened pink grapefruit flavor and a bit of pine. The mouthfeel is silky smooth and the carbonation is light. The finish is long and lightly biter with lingering pineapple. Overall: this is a great IPA, one that elevates the art of brewing. Highly recommended.

Cask at Bella Vista Grand Opening: pours a golden amber with a thin white head, aroma is full of citrus and hops (amazing aroma), taste is hoppy with some citrus, very easy to drink. This is a very nice IPA, I had assumed it was a DIPA,

Pours a very clear gold in color with only a ring of froth. Smell is very piney hops. Taste is very green, brutally bitter hops. This is very fresh and very green. Very bittering and tongue ripping. This is a aggressive and brutal onslaught on your palate. The bottle is incredible, I could only imagine how this is on draft. Wow.

Bottle Shared with GMCC2181, thanks Gabe. Aroma was pine, citrus and hops. Color was a nice bright light orange with nice head. Taste was pine, floral, and grassy. A nice easy to drink smooth IPA.

Bottle from spark-dog! Thanks E! Nice aroma, very piney, plus mango and citrus hops. Color was a light orange, decent head. Taste was different from most IPA’s. Light in texture. Nice mango bitter hop balance. Overall pretty sweet taste, but holds the classic IPA characteristics. Very easy to drink, for sure one of the better IPA out there. Thanks E for sending me this one, I owe you one.

Bottle thanks to doubleo. Pours fairly clear copper with frothy white. Huge pine/citrus nose. Flavor is all pine with back notes of grapefruit. Nice bit of sweetness that tries to round it out, but who cares, this a well made hopped up IPA!
