San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

New copper color. White lacy head lasts long time. Funky aroma like mosaic. Kinda stinky. Stinky taste too but somehow good. Must be a gmo hop.

Nice orange color with a frothy head. Intense citrus hop aroma you can smolders from a foot away. It has a bitter orange floral hop taste with a weak malt undertone. Just bitchin. Can’t find anything wrong with this one.

Draught @ Monte Carlo, Las Vegas. Clear golden pour. Aroma is very fruity, floral and fresh. Flavor is bitter hoppy, fruity and hugely refreshing. Amazing brew.

Poured from a can. Hazy gold with a very thick, long-lasting head. Very strong citrusy aroma. Bitter, but in a good way. Definitely would have again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I can see why this is so highly regarded. From the moment I opened the bottle and poured, there was a strong aroma of hops and citrus that permeated the room and my glass. Pours a golden-copper with thick, lasting head. Flavor is very bitter, strong hops, some pepper, and loads of citrus. Resinous and sticky on the tongue with a very bitter finish. Great IPA!

This is a fantastic IPA, one of the few that holds its own with Pliny the Elder. The combo of a smooth IPA with the fruit notes make for a great finish. Make it a point to try this beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2014 Pours clear amber with moderate head. Nose is pine, mango, tropical fruit, hops. Taste is pine and peppery spicy hops on the front, on the back end it smooths out a lot with mango and tropical fruit notes. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel for an ipa. For my money the best IPA out there. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Relatively fresh bottle with new label design, just a few weeks old. Bright gold color with very small white head and no lacing. Aroma is very citrusy and piney. Flavor is mostly citrus, with a clean bitter finish. This is so smooth and very crisp, and tastes good but its kind of boring. Price on the 6-packs are a bit high.

Bottle from Fairport Brew review. I believe Mark said this is now available in the area, hallelujah. Light orange, mostly clear, caramel, citrus, dry palate. Decent. Some pine in the palate. I guess that’s what I usually mean by a dry IPA.

Pours hazy apricot, nice head and lasting lace, citrusy, apricot biscuits aroma, beautifully balanced sweet apricot fruit leather and hoppy middle palate, finishing full-bodied and crisp. No sign of the 7% ABV on the palate, a benchmark IPA!
