COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Pours a rusty amber orange with a nice head. Nose is citrus, tropical fruits and pine. Taste is full of flavor, not terribly bitter and finishes smoothly on a sweet note. Alcohol well masked, drinks as a lighter IPA with a lower ABV. Quite nice from a great microbrewer. Quaff Score 9 / 10

Pours a hazy golden orange with a white head and nice aroma of citrus and hops. Taste is of hops, citrus, and pine, while subtle, with a slight bitter, smooth finish. Very nice IPA, drinkable and great tasting.

Ah, finally, an IPA that is really good. Seems a lot of the "hey lets make a brewery" brewers are producing things that are labelled IPA, but really taste like old stale hops! Don’t get me wrong, you have a few out there that are making some really great IPAs and this is one of them. Clean, fresh, bitterly hoppy, foamy, citrusy......hits all the marks! Really nice IPA!!! I’m drinking one now!!!!!

22 ounce bottle from the Brass Tap, poured an range color, aromas of pineapple, tropical fruit, and light malt. Flavors are the same, with the malt playing nicely off the tropical fruit, and light bitterness.

On tap at Good Dog with brewers for the Ballast Point takeover event. This version was double dry hopped with dank simcoe. Pours a hazy gold, creamy off white thick head and tons of awesome lacing. Aromas and taste of are insanely tropical, pineapple, cantalope, mango, apricot heavy citrus pine, some Buttery smooth mouth from the cask.

Bottle. 25.4 oz. Pours orange-gold with a thick, frothy white head. Aroma of hop resin, orange, pineapple, honey, Granny Smith apple, vanilla, caramel, and sweet malts. Fuller bodied; perfectly balanced with a juicy, tart, smooth mouthfeel. Slow-burning, crisp, carbonated finish. Outstandingly executed, outrageously delicious, incredibly satisfying Imperial IPA. Great west coast IPA
