4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I could spend all day sniffing the grapefruit-piney aroma which sends out a nice bouquet of Earthy tones. It took me a bit but there is some peach and lemon in the aroma as well. Flavor is loaded with citrus as well but has a rather bitter resin-like finish to it. Some lemon character is present in the flavor which seems to give it a nice balance. Alcohol is well hidden.

Yet another California IPA that rocks the house. Had this one 10/7/2010 from the bottle. Pours a beautiful golden color with just under quarter an inch of head. Nice lacing on the glass as well because I keep drinking this beer very quickly. I smell malt, slight citrus from the hops. I taste citrus with a strong bitter finish to let you know that they did not skimp on the hops. Not the most balanced, but this IPA is a true representation of why the West Coast IPAs rule the roost. I am so happy we were able to get some of this liquid nectar in Richmond. Medium bodied with a very smooth mouth feel for being so aggressive.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
wow. 650ml bottle poured hazy gold with rocky sticky yellowish head. Aroma is bright and very flural with sweet mago and grapefruit notes up front other citrus fruit notes in the mix also like oranges and peaches. Taste is hoppy and piney notes but still holds a citrus fruit taste with a very good body. Extreamly complex and the aroma is very strong. phenominal IPA

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Key Food, Brooklyn bomber ($8.99): Pours a golden color with a long lasting moderate white head. On the lighter side of possibility for the IPAs. Aroma is very fruity; I get the biggest noseful of peach, although there are citrus notes in there as well that I detect. Lots of hops in the aroma as well. Taste is bitter, but it does not quite get into hop slaughter territory. The hops may actually be most present in the sustained aftertaste. Even though this beer is medium bodied, it is still rather easy to drink and the hops don’t stop you from enjoying a second one (Green Flash Hope Head Red I’m looking at you). I’m actually a bit disappointed. I know this beer was good, but it didn’t strike me as the third highest rated IPA... In any case, I enjoyed it. I just hated seeing that bottle always looking at me beckoning me to its hoppy goodness.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 23, 2013 Deep hazy gold, with a hint of orange, nice compact head. Aroma bracingly grapefruit and lemon. Flavor is also hop oriented, grapefruit, lemon, and as it warms, a hint of apricot. Very, very faint caramel sweetness for balance. Not bad, but this is so oriented on citric hop notes that the flavors probably are harmed a bit by bottling and travel across the US. Still nice. RERATE: A past due rerate now that this seems to be on draft with some regularity. And by golly, that is the way to taste it. Basic notes are the same, but beautiful fresh hop flavors just leap from the glass. Worth a few extra points. Would love to try this fresh at the source one day.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a dark hazy yellow with a thin head which still had a nice lacing. The aroma has some strong aromas of fruits like apricots in addition to some vegetable like sweet baby carrots. Taste is quite heavy on apricot and some rather strong bittering hops. The high alfa acid bitterness lingers heavily on the aftertaste. Body is also quite heavy for the style. It’s very enjoyable, though certainly an unabashedly unbalanced IPA.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Amber with a rocky white head. Strong citrus laden hops, light pine, and soft caramel. Taste is big citrus (grapefruit juice and orange peel), soft caramel, sweet malt, herbal hops and tropical fruit. Body is medium and resinous with a bubbly carbonation and a strong lingering bitterness. Finishes with more citrus notes (grapefruit juice and orange), pine sap, soft caramel, sweet malt and more unripened tropical fruit notes.

Bottle; shared many thanks with Angelo. WOW. Massive hoppy nose, hold out so well in the fridge, great lacing, slightly hazy coppy pale appearance, lovely yeast clean yeast strain, strong tropical fruits and grapefruit, really big and bold and aggressive on the tongue, lovely US bittereness, hops are just bang on gorgeous, I enjoyed this more than Pilny, baby this rocks. Loads of candy, great dry fruity finish, succulant down the throat and damn damn drinkable. One hell of an insane top big bold US ipa which should be setting titanic waves accross the industry. Stunning. Thanks mate. Legend. Damn I need to cool down.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from a 22oz. bottle into a stemmed glass.
The color is a clear orange/gold with two or three fingers of foamy white head and some thick lacing.
The smell is pretty floral hops with some funky citrus flavor. This has a nice west coast IPA feel and I am impressed already.
The taste is pretty sweet and pretty bitter but with a fruity citrus flavor that does give off a bit of zing. Pretty good spiky flavor that does poke with a bitterness that is not surprising but fun. Some tropical fruit I can’t name brings you to a slapped back fruity flavor.
The feel of this beer is a pretty smooth beer. It goes down pretty darn smooth but does leave it’s mark on your mouth as it bitters the palate with some nice flavor.
