COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Hazy orange with a creamy off-white head. Nose : Loads of peaches and apricot, enticing. Palate : Medium to full bodied, creamy, refreshing, great bitterness, really bold with grapefruit and tropical fruity hops in dominance. Long lingering fruity bitter finish. Amazing IPA

Cask at get real ny - sweet candy malts and caramel, very fruity with plenty of citrus notes. Crisp malts and some grains. Perfect IPA.

Light unclear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lancing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, pine, orange, fruity - tropic ala peach - mango - lemon.

On tap at Toronado SF. Deep hazy orange. Pretty decent pine and citrus aroma. Pretty hop balanced with little malt background. Not to say its not there, just overpowered. Moderately high mix of pine, citrus, and a touch of grapefruit that lingers on. Crisp finish, lighter on the palate than the flavor suggests. Great stuff.

Poured from bomber into tall glass. Appearance: Hazy honey gold with large stark white head and pretty lacing. Aroma: Very tropical and hoppy, with mango, grapefruit, lemon and a herbal spiciness. Taste: Once again, very hoppy, but not as tropical. Some grapefruit and tropical notes, but the herbal spiciness steals the show. Quite bitter throughout, with just a minimal malt presence. Palate: Moderate carbonation with a very creamy body and an exceptionally dry finish. Overall: Very strong IPA, but the taste didn’t quite live up to the aroma or my expectations. Great choice for a West Coast bitter fix.

Petite bouteille.

Quite yeasty blonde colored IPA. Deliriously appealing aroma of mango and grapefruit. The intense hoppiness takes a lot of place in the overall flavor, with its piny and tropical fruits notes; very pleasant mouthfeel, especially in the deepness, or the “full-mouthness” of the hop flavors Not much sweetness comes out, except in the cookie notes provided by the delightful malt backbone. Amazing IPA, amongst the best I had. This beer is not overrated; it is just awesome!
