San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Thank you Fred for this bottle that we drink together at le Petit-Lancy. It is a delicious IPA, well balanced, yellow and orange body, regular carbonation, thin and white foam. The taste is pleasant with hop, malt, bitterness and grapefruit, staying a long time in the mouth.

Hard to find anything wrong with this. Just an outstanding beer. Possibly the perfect IPA.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and the colour of honey, with an off-white head. On the nose resinous notes, fresh pineapple, passion fruit, grapefruit, faint lime peel, and a very faint whiff of lemon jelly beans as it warms up. Taste wise, fruit at the top of the profile. Passion fruit, grapefruit, peach, and light resinous notes that head into mineral heavy bitterness, and lots of bitter citrus pith in the finish.

Clear golden color with a foam ring. Light butter with hops and loads of citrus aromas. Extremely light with a fine supporting carbonation. Some butter, little hints of the alcohol and in general a well balanced beer with loads of fresh citrus. Hoppy citrus bitter and pleasantly light aftertaste.

Fruity and citrus-forward aroma. Nice orangey/amber color. Great tasting IPA, but definitely a bit overhyped IMHO.

Dark orange with a white head. A reisiny piney citrus aroma. The fkavor is bitter but well balanced. The flavor contains lemons, oranges, mango, pineapple. Complex. The aftertaste also bitter. World class stuff.

(35 cl bottle from Systembolaget; BBD: 09/05/2017) Poured at fridge temperature into a stemmed Mikkeller & Friends tulip reveals a clear amber body with two fingers of white head. Decent retention and lace. Aroma has notes of stonefruit and citrus. Oily texture, soft carbonation, medium to light body and a lingering, bitter finish. Flavour is moderately bitter and quite crisp. Decent but perhaps a bit too bitter and subtly fragrant for my taste.

Amateur hopheads love this when drinking out of a pint glass. Put it in a quality snifter, and there is an explosion of different fruity flavors, plus 70 solid IBUs. The IPA version of a quality imperial stout....just not my thing.
