COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Tasty IPA. Floral / citrus aroma. Nice bite from the hops in the first mouthful which smooths out over subsequent quaffs.

Very complex for a single IPA. Mango, watermelon and grapefruit on the tongue with a nice bracing bitter aftertaste. You can really taste the quality ingredients and the time taken to brew this right. Almost worth the $13 per six pack price. At $10 or under this would be the perfect beer.

Surpringly light. The gold of a rich lager. Nice maltiness. Malt lingers. Hop bitterness is aggressive but not harsh. Very good.

Golden clear, white foam. Aroma of tropical fruit, papaya and mango. Fantastic! Long and global mouth: malt notes, bread and grassy notes!!! Fantastic! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Mango, grapefruit, kiwi, sweet resiny aroma. Cloudy honey gold with a thick foamy white head that sticks around for quite a while. Lots of grapefruit. But not so bitter that it's overpowering. This is very well balanced and very smooth. It has a crisp finish but then a bit of an after-warmth in the throat. Pretty good stuff.

Enjoy the slight dank hop aroma. Copper color with a decent head. Crisp and moderately light palate. High carbonation. Prominent bitterness up front that was slightly harsh.has a crisp malty caramel background. Well balanced over 7% ABV. Nice balance tward hoppy. not real available in my area, goes fast!

Pours copper orange, light haze, light white head. Aroma is full of fruit, pineapple, citrus, mango, light spruce. Infinitely drinkable, juicy, light sweetness, above mentioned fruits continue through to the taste, finishes up medium bitter.. orange rind. Medium body / carbo. Love how good this is, despite being fairly "available".

Sample at Malmö beer- and whiskey festival. One of the best West-Coast IPAs i’ve tried, what sets it apart is the rare and perfect balance between demanding hops and malt-base.
