COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Like big eye just a tad better, but still a perfect SDIPA...hops aroma is like an XXIPA and nose continues through out flavor. Nice grass pine crisp finish excellent.

Sample @ MÖWF. Hazy golden with one finger white head. Aroma of grass, pine, citrus and orange with some grains in the background. Taste of bitter lemon and grapefruit peels with grainy malts also noticeable. Nice prickly mouthfeel with long lasting bitterness.

Can to ipa glass. Really nice golden pour with a decent white head. Lots of citrus and pine in the aroma and taste. Taste is backed by a nice malt profile. A bit of a bitter backend. Really solid ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from bottle, pale slightly hazy amber with high head. Aroma with notes of fruit, citrus, pine and some bread. Taste is mild bitterness backed up by a very well balanced malt body and leading to a subtle but long bitter finish. The geatness of this beer is in the balance, nothing really sticks out bit the way it comes together is just heavenly...

Can pour at home, lemon golden pour, nice sweet cities aroma and taste, little bite on the end. I see why this has won some models.

Pours hazy yellow with off white head and lacing. Nice smack from hops up front, crisp and refreshing. Lingering bitterness on the finish. Not really getting the fruits as described by the brewer but still a pleasant beer. $2:99/12 oz bottle at Total Wine and More Boca Raton
