San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2016 At home. Can shared by Maakun. Tangerine and weed, bit soapy, vegetable/spring onion, very fruity. Fierce but friendly bitter, sweet grainy backbone. Full bodied, texture is fat with a fine grain. Carbo is medium. Very refreshing, very nice!

Can shared thanks to Secret Santa bytemesis. Clear golden with fluffy white head. Mango, dank hops with lots of marijuana, orange peel, grass, light lime and lemon in the finish. There’s also some light biscuit malts but the hops are really taking the stage here. Light sweet and medium bitter with a light tart touch just before the finish. Medium bodied. Just like an IPA should be.

Finally got my hands on a nice variety of fresh Ballast Point brews, and this one was "just" a good IPA, nothing crazy like hype would have you believe. I found the grapefruit version of Sculpin better.

Flott kalibrert bitterhet i ettersmaken. Superfrisk ipa i beste amerikanske tradisjon. No poisonous stings here, just pure bliss.
